  • The rain forest area of the Otway Ranges has some of the most spectacular waterfalls and lush fern covered walks. / They do require some effort to access, particularly the walk back up, but they are magnificent locations to visit.

  • While it’s possible to be disappointed by the hordes of thronging tourists, I don’t think it’s possible to overplay the spectacular natural beauty of Yosemite Valley. I have travelled in over 40 countries and found few places that rival it for jaw-dropping-ness. Again I was blessed with perfect light this morning, catching the early sunlight kissing the faces of the rock around Yosemite Falls, that vibrant spring green of the meadows, and the swollen water as it tumbled down the cliff-face. I spent less than 24 hours in the park, and I ache to head back there someday and spend some proper time there, because it really took my heart… May 2007.

  • The unique thing about this state park, located close to Chattanooga Tennesse, is it has the Tennessee River going along two sides of it. I was able to get sunsets across the river as well as sunrises (thanks ros..lol)

  • In Nov ‘08, Jan’ 09, and again on March 7, 2009 this image was featured in the group, Alaska ~ Beyond Your Dreams. Many thanks to Sharon Mau (and her sister, Karon) for honoring this image! On a road trip through the state of Alaska, we came upon this beautiful lake. I didn’t make notes so now can’t remember the name of the lake or its location. Taken several years ago using my manual-focus SLR Canon AE-1. This image was scanned from a film print. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Please don’t copy or download this image. • The smooth ethereal effect of my camera’s long exposure on a horizontal view of the Marble Fork of the Kaweah River in Sequoia National Park. For the record, I had slipped and fallen into this raging river perhaps 10 minutes previously. After removing soaked clothes and regaining my composure and thanking God I didn’t drown, I set up my camera and tripod and shot this upstream image. Camera: 5D, polarizing lens on a Canon 24-70mm lens, 5 sec, exposure, ISO speed 50, focal length 51.0, White Balance-Shade, and a few adjustments in Photoshop.

  • 7215 I tell ya, I wish I could honestly buy this place if it ever comes up for sale! Captured outside of Estes Park, Colorado, during my Autumn photoshoot, Longs Peak made for an incredible backdrop to the colorful Aspen and this old wooden cabin. Shot in very early morning light, the whole scene just seemed to glow…I had to stop and get quite a few shots off, as it just really caught my attention and seemed to echo the meaning of the words ‘relaxation’ quite well. / Hope ya all like it! / —-John Minolta 5D / Minolta 18-200 DT Lens / SIngh-Ray CPL / f8-iso 100- 24mm

  • Shot in the Lamar Valley, YELLOWSTONE National Park, USA. A lucky grab-shot. / I had spotted the Cottonwoods and wanted to capture the beautiful colours of Fall against the shadowy hill behind, then I saw the Male Bison emerge from the trees. He had a mission on his mind, a couple of females across the river, LOL !! (out of sight of this shot.) He was moving pretty quickly, and luckily I had my short telephoto lens already attached to the camera ! A magical moment and experience !! Shot on my Canon EOS 40D, set on Landscape mode, Aperture Priority, with polarising filter, hand-held, iso 200, f 6.7, 1/180 sec , underexposed by one stop because of the dark shadowy hill , Auto WB ( I mostly use this), lens was my Canon EF 75-300mm set at 200mm (don’t have this lens anymore) RAW file, processed in Adobe Camera Raw, then tweaked in PS CS3, with selective Levels/Curves, and selective colour adjustments. • Georgia Veterans State Park was established to honor Georgia’s military veterans. This is reflected in the theme of the park’s museum. It displays medals, uniforms, weapons, vehicles, aircraft and other items that span the time from the Revolutionary War through the Gulf War. The park is situated on the beautiful 8,600 acre Lake Blackshear and is enjoyed by boaters, jet skiers, water skiers, fishermen, and swimmers. Private boats are allowed on the lake or if you prefer there are a variety of watercraft available for rent at the Georgia Veterans State Park Marina. Featured in: All Parks
