This is actualy a better close up to the Taskinigup falls panorama…
As Autumn begins to give way to winter, the morning sky and light becomes more soft, as Mother Nature takes a turn and starts her winter hibernation. This sure was a different styled shot for me. I actually intended to get down to Washington Park and shoot the sunrise but instead was greeted with something that seemed otherworldly. The sun backlighting the clouds and the dampness in the air made for quite a surreal feeling, standing here in absolute solitude, not a sound, not even the Geese you see in the water made a sound…it was ominous. I figured I would try something really different for once and got out my tripod and put on my Minolta 28mm F2.8 lens for this shot ( I am LOVING that damned lens BTW, sharp as a tack!) and started firing off shots, then it hit me,—-why don’t I try a few long exposures, and well, this is the end result. 10 seconds. Personally I kinda like it, an odd impression it gives with the Geese in the water, reminds me of a painting, and surreal as well. Does it work?? I am not entirely sure, you be the judge. I would love to hear what ya all think of this shot. I have gone ahead and submitted it under the surreal category, a category I don’t think I have ever submitted to before…. Anyways, I would love some feedback on this! / Thanks all! / -John / -—-—-—-——- See more on my website jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. The unique thing about this state park, located close to Chattanooga Tennesse, is it has the Tennessee River going along two sides of it. I was able to get sunsets across the river as well as sunrises (thanks ros..lol)

Autumn Dreams…. I know the year is dying… / Soon the summer will be dead… / I can trace it in the flying… / Of the black crows overhead… / I can hear it in the rustle… / Of the dead leaves as I pass… / And the south wind’s plaintive sighing… / Through the dry and withered grass… Ah, ‘tis then I love to wander… / Wander idly and alone… / Listening to the solemn music… / Of sweet nature’s undertone… / Wrapt in thoughts I cannot utter… / Dreams my tongue cannot express… / Dreams that match the autumn’s sadness… / In their longing tenderness…. Incredible sunset photographed on Eleanor Lake in Whiteshell Provincial Park, Manitoba
This was taken at Niagara Falls State Park, NY on 12/29/2008. The body of water is the Niagara River. Sunset taken facing Canadian side. A Canon 50D with a 17-70mm lens. The weather was wicked warm for December but quite windy.
Just going through some old shots and came across this shot , which was taken last year down south at Bunker Bay in Dunsbrough Western Australia early one morning . Was an 8 image stitch came out at over 120cm wide at 320DPI . Other news I picked up my Canon 5DMKII the other day and new Canon L 24-70mm F2.8 Lens . Cant wait to start using them , hopefully there will be some good light here in Perth to get some practice with the new camera . http://kirkhille.wordpress.com/ Various images of mine are for sale on various finishes and sizes from Gloss and lustre, Metallic and Fuji Flex prints. Point Fermin Park in San Pedro California with Orton Effect
This is a photo of beautiful hillside that I pass nearly every day. I could never catch a picture of this wonderful view, because there was no safe place to pull over on the highway as I was driving past. On this particular autumn evening, all traffic was stopped in a construction zone, just as the sun had disappeared behind the mountains. The last rays of sunlight were only visible up on the hilltop to the east. Thanks to that unexpected traffic jam, I finally got the shot that I had wanted to capture for a very long time. (It really pays to keep you camera at your side at ALL times!) This landscape image was captured from I-180, exactly on the “city line” between Montoursville and Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The photo was shot “handheld” with a Canon EOS 10D camera using a Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L zoom lens @ 200mm. The shutter speed was 1/250th sec at f/9.5. The camera’s ISO was set to 100. Still going through my images from my Sydney trip this year . Went down to the Sydney Opera House a couple of times as it was close to where we were staying in the CBD and The Sydney skyline and Opera House would have to be one of my favourite skylines to photography besides the Perth skyline . Would have to be one of my favourite cities in Australia as well , If i did’nt live in Perth could easly live in either Sydney or the Gold Coast . This was a 3 image vertical stitch . http://kirkhille.wordpress.com/ Various images of mine are for sale on various finishes and sizes from Gloss and lustre, Metallic and Fuji Flex prints. This is another angle my wife Camellia did of corner rock creek. I think she really captured the moment.
There are few places in Colorado that I love more than this one, and yes, it is a very iconic place, situated between Allenspark and Estes Park…and in Autumn it simply comes alive in ways I can not even begin to mention, the bushes turn a liquid gold in color, and everything resembles a painting….beauty in it’s most sincere form in Nature. I hope you all like it! / John /
Sunset in the forest is a beautiful thing to behold. If you’re lucky enough to catch the sun and the slanted light thru the trees, life is perfect indeed. HDR processing with Dynamic Photo Taken at Union Creek, Oregon
This is a re edit and had this in my gallery at one point in time. Been playing with the trial version of Lightzone by Lightcraft’s and then finished off in the Gimp. I’m looking for a good image editor to use with my Linux work station I also use Windows XP because of Adobe products Elements and Lightroom and if only Adobe would port there products to Linux I would be done with Windows forever LOL. Anyway I think I was a bit out of my comfort zone on this re edit and I hope I didn’t over do it. This is a little pond just down the street from where I live in Northwest Indiana I took this one in mid October of 2008. Nikon D80 18-135mm lens used. F6.3 1/8 sec 18mm. Thank for looking. The last glimmer of setting sunlight was lighting up the autumn trees on the far side of Rose Valley Lake. The very active sky was reflecting off of the water’s surface, creating an abstract image of nature’s atmospheric beauty. Rose Valley Lake is located in Gamble Township, five miles east of Trout Run, in north central Pennsylvania. This reservoir is very well managed by the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission. My family has found this to be a perfect place to watch seasonal meteor showers, because the is no “light polution” from bright city lights here. This photo was taken with a Canon EOS 10D using a Canon EF 35-350mm f/3.5-5.6L zoom lens set to 55mm. The shutter speed was 1/250th sec. at f/4. The camera’s ISO was set to 100. BEST VIEWED LARGER Thanks for dropping in the Favouritings,Comments and views are appreciated this location is close to home but it was only today I got to investigate it at sunset. Paradise Beach is one of the many secluded beaches that dot the shores of Pittwater and the entrance of the Hawkesbury River. Around 30 kilometres from Sydney CBD and you can sit down and watch the sunrise and sunset. Be as energetic as you wish or just chill out to a good wine or a cold beer. oh and dont forget the oysters So when visiting Sydney head North to the wonders of Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
