Red Bubble’s First Book /// In the Moment /// Overall Winner / I found myself in Geneva for a week for work last year. The only other time I had been to Switzerland was Zurich for 2 nights in the middle of winter, so I was kind of surprised by the beautiful (and hot!) summer weather I experienced on this visit. / The Lake at Geneva is where everyone goes to cool off and I was mesmerised watching all these crazy dudes doing amazing things off a high-dive on the edge of the lake. I took a few shots and managed to capture this moment among them. / I entered this work into the 2007 Linden Gallery Post Card Show in St.Kilda, and was absolutely stoked to have been awarded one of the six entries to be reproduced as postcards and sold through the gallery.

Some things you can hardly believe when you see them. I went to school as a structural engineer, and I have to say I’m amazed this house is standing. I went to some pains to make sure the image is vertical, and it’s definitely pretty close. So yes, that lamppost on the left really is leaning like that. This is just a scene captured while on the back streets of Nallihan in central Anatolia. Sometimes I feel like every door I see has a story behind it worth telling. If you look closely there’s a padlock keeping this one shut. What we’ll probably never know is … why?

In Nov ‘08, Jan’ 09, and again on March 7, 2009 this image was featured in the group, Alaska ~ Beyond Your Dreams. Many thanks to Sharon Mau (and her sister, Karon) for honoring this image! On a road trip through the state of Alaska, we came upon this beautiful lake. I didn’t make notes so now can’t remember the name of the lake or its location. This image was taken on the Berry College campus in Rome, Georgia. The Berry campus is the largest campus in the world at nearly 30,000 acres. It consists of fields and forest and mountains lands which have designated portions open to the public for hiking, cycling, horse back riding, and other outdoor activities. The large deer population is reputed to outnumber the students by eight to one! About half the campus is a wildlife refuge where no hunting is allowed. The other half (almost 16,000 acres) is managed by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources where hunts are managed in an attempt to control the deer population and provide recreational opportunities within department regulations. With a permit fishing is allowed on some of the campus lakes and streams. Other wildlife often seen on campus are wild turkeys, seasonal ducks and geese, skunks, and squirrels. Thankfully even through high winds and alot of rain, a tree in my daughters back yard stood with beautiful leaves still on its branches and a blanket of them on the ground, after tomorrow we are in for more high winds I am sure alot of these will be falling off like crazy.
