Looking down the gorge from the lower bridge, Falls of Bruar . I’m particularly impressed by the colours and the smooth glistening rocks. This area is rich in geology (an extension of the Loch Tay fault?): there’s a lot of limestone and other metamorphic sedimentary rocks (layered slate, possibly some schist) and a bit of red sandstone nearby, all folded making rakish angles. Taken on the Shen Hao 5×4” large-format camera with Fuji Velvia (old RVP emulsion) film.

  • Canon 350D lens 17-40 mm / River stream in the forest.

  • The Iguazu waterfalls. One of those overwhelming places. The roar of these giant waterfalls is deafening, there beauty blinding. This shot of “La Garganta del Diablo” was a battle against the spray, but it was worth it. This was taken from the Brazilian side, the far side, a little obscured by the mist, is Argentina. Wallpaper can be found here This image has been featured by ‘The World’. / Sold as an extra large canvas print to a mystery buyer.

  • Taken at the Waterrun, Royal National Park just south of Sydney. The rainbow is from some wave spray and that’s a little waterfall off to the left. / This shot was taken at dusk about an hour before Poetry of Chaos. It was amazing watching the storm come in and the colours changing and the sea swell growing. One of the great privileges of living in this park is watching the same landscapes in a myriad of different moods depending on the weather and time of day. Canon 30D / Tv: 1/6sec / Av: f/25 / ISO: 100 / FL: 18mm Poetry of Chaos:

  • A man sitting on a ledge near a canyon.

  • taken early this morning at Cement Creek / in the Yarra Ranges, Victoria

  • “Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.“ John Muir Photo taken at Groton State Forest, Vermont, October 2008. Owl’s Head Trail.

  • MUST VIEW LARGER Hualapai Indian Grand Canyon.

  • Colorful maple leaves scattered across moss covered boulders as a small streams tumbles around a bend in Washington near Mt. Rainier

  • A ‘burn’ is the Scottish Highland name for a stream, creek or beck. On my walk through the forest, I spotted a broken branch of Rowan, with its lovely Autumnal reds, and placed it on the ledge next to the miniature waterfall. A still – life of Nature. / The water was coloured with the peat that it picks up as it flows through the hillside. / All that was missing were the fairies ! I deliberately blurred the water, using f22 on my Canon EOS 40D, mounted securely on my tripod, fitted with a polarising filter to reduce the light still further ( it was quite low light under the canopy of trees). The shutter speed was 15 seconds ! I used my Tamron 28-300mm lens set at 135mm, iso 100, cloudy wb, RAW file Processed in PS CS3. Most of my processing is done in Adobe Camera Raw. I applied selective curves/levels adjustments, selective colour, and sharpened with Intellisharpen. • What a magical place this is Natural Bridge (also known as Natural Arch), in the World Heritage-listed, Springbrook National Park, Queensland, Australia. Over millions of years, the waters of the mountain fed Cave Creek has worn away at the basalt cave roof, to create this natural wonder. Home to a colony of glow-worms, only visible after sunset. The short hiking walk takes you through some beautiful rainforest, most of the time, you can hear the falling waters of these falls. A must see if you come to the area! Canon 50D, 14mm. Available large, and definately best viewed Large!

  • Photo Manipulation Musical inspiration: Akira Yamaoka. There are no lyrics, only music. I find his music haunting and it sets a rather melancholy mood, both beautiful and sad. / I listen almost exclusively to Yamaoka songs (mostly the soundtracks from the Silent Hill games/movie – my absolute faves) when I am creating. They inspire me like nothing else can. Here are Dance with Night Wind and Tears of… which inspired the mood for this pieces. . / Credits Model stock / Sky / Ocean, Rocks / Water Fall / Brushes / Everything else hand painted.
