“A Moment of Silence” Looking East From Picture Lake Into North Cascades National Park, Washington. The day I went up to Picture Lake to take this photo, it was extremely windy. I thought my day was wasted as I really wanted to capture the reflections of Mount Shuksan. When I got my camera set up for the shoot, the wind subsided and the resulting picture was taken. When I finished the shoot, the wind started up again and the reflections disappeared. by BigDBest View Larger Feature in All Countries ~ Wetlands, Ponds, Lakes and Rivers group. / Feature in JPG Cast-Offs group. I love this place as a young boy because I grew up here. Us boys used to walked several several miles just to swim at this pond before it was develop. This was taken on 10/14/2008 in the morning. The place is in the village of Potterville, PA. My camera was a Rebel XTi with a Sigma 17-70mm lens and a circular polarizer. Other equipment was a tripod and calbe release. Edited in HDR software. Click view larger to really see the beauty. / /

I never did get around to posting all my autumn shots….so here’s another one…there’s a huge group of photogs all massed across the other side, trying to jostle for position on shifting reed beds and yuckky mud, and further across there’s a couple more. I gave up waiting over that side, and moved to the western edge to see what I could see…..now you can see what I could see :) This was processed in NZ with photomatix, back when I was probably a little overwhelmed by the colour….I might reprocess it and see if I like it better with my newer techniques New Zealand / Seascapes / Frogs / Lensbaby / Infrared / Industrial / Spam / Panorama / Landscapes / Real Estate Series / People

“Clouds on the Water, Fire Near the Sky” / Purchase a Mouse Pad of this image I happened onto this gorgeous sunrise over the White River at a time when the water was at its lowest. I was delighted to catch the calm surface for reflections, as the low rising sun was casting its first orange glow over the autumn colors.

Glenmore Reservoir, Calgary, Alberta, Canada This was one my very first photo’s I took. There were many things I had not yet picked up. I had the iso on auto, which I think for this photo was about 400 – 800. This led to much of the noise in the sky. I had the aperture set at f22, which at the time I thought was best to bring more of the photo in focus but I later found it can soften the overall image. I also did not own a tripod so I had to balance the camera on some rocks which made composing the scene much harder then normal and led to a small amount of camera shake. In the end though this became the first photo I had taken that I was truly proud of and solidified my passion for photography.
