  • UPDATE- After some deep digging within Texas Common Butterfly sites I now know that this little guy is a tiny Zilpa Longtail (Chioides zilpa) which is a member of the Spread-wing Skippers (Hesperiidae: Pyrginae) group…so he is still a Butterfly..just a little one ….although he is closely related to a moth… kinda tricky huh? Thanks!!! / Suni —-— / I do not know the name of this little butterfly…I am currently looking through the literal hundreds of native Texas butterflies and moths to see if I can find a name for him…if anyone may know…I would love to know…it would also save me a lot of time sorting through tons of information….(I dont mind the research..I just want to know what it is called) This teeny little flyer was polite enough to stay still and pose for me through several shots…..well I dont know if it was posing so much as the weather is beginning to get cooler….therefore the butterflies dont move too fast. As winter approaches in my area the butterflies are preparing to leave…They move really slow when they get cold..if they can fly at all…Pretty soon they will be completely gone from my area…so I have been trying to stock up on as many good portraits of them before they leave….That way I can see them all winter while working in photoshop instead of having to wait for their return next year…lol Thank you for viewing my work!!! / Suni

  • This playful manmade waterfall feature was shot while walking through the rock garden at Olbrich Botanical Gardens last summer in Madison, Wisconsin. I love the play of light on the trees, rocks and falls and hope to make a painting of it some day soon.Shot with a Kodak EasyShare DX6490 zoom digital camera.
