  • Another from the pine forest in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney, Sunday 20 April. With the picturesque shack, lichen covered pine trees, red mushrooms, and then the mist rolling in, I was torn in so many directions – in the end I made an attempt to get all elements in the one shot! / / Margo has kindly provided me with the following info on the red mushrooms – glad I didn’t taste any – I could have flown like Santa’s reindeers!!! / / (1) The Fly Agaric Amanita muscaria is the famous white-spotted red toadstool beloved of children’s book illustrators. They are widely known as one of the few poisonous fungi in the UK, but it is not generally realised that this is because they are in fact strongly psychedelic. Eaten raw, they cause stomach cramps, hallucinations1 and, possibly, death. In some parts of Europe they have long been associated with magic and legend. In Lapland, reindeer regularly get high on them and are seen to leap around, giving rise to the story of Santa’s flying reindeer. Lapps have a custom of deliberately feeding them to their deer, and then collecting and drinking the urine because most of the toxins are filtered out by the reindeer’s digestive system. 1 They are not the same thing as ‘magic mushrooms’. (2) Also, ‘toad-stuhl’ is a German name meaning ‘seat of death’. _ / Landscapes Trees Cards EOD Rusty Flowers Architecture Macro CatchAll DM / /

  • I am at a loss for a title – all suggestions welcome!! PS THANKS MARGO for the “Secret Rendezvous” idea – I think it works well!!! Now renamed. Another attempt at adding a figure into a misty shot from the pine forest at Wentworth Falls – trying this time to work on the correct lighting for the lady … I am open to constructive suggestions and criticism! / Landscapes Trees Cards EOD Rusty Flowers Architecture Macro CatchAll DM / / /

  • I find it hard to believe that the mushroom actually pushed the iron off the ground, but it makes a great image! Found in the pine forest at Wentworth Falls, Blue Mountains Australia a few weeks ago. / / Landscapes Trees Cards EOD Rusty Flowers Architecture Macro CatchAll DM / /

  • Shot: Nikon D40X / Format: Raw / Time: 1.29pm / Exposure: 10.000 seconds / F No: 9.0 / Focal Length: 26.0mm / Tripod Used / Uv Filter Used Leura Cascade Falls is in Sydney Australia The Blue Mountains. This is a great walk to go and do! It’s not to hard and you see beautiful things the whole way! How to get there… Commencing from the Leura Cascades Picnic Area make your way to the information board from which you will observe a concrete pathway descending to the left. Follow the pathway as it travels beside the bubbling Leura Cascades creek. You will approach a small footbridge, at this there will be an intersection, you will note a weathered signpost indicating the direction of Leura Cascades, from this point head downhill to the Cascades. As you descend the fern covered stairs (handrails for support) to the Cascades you will hear the sounds of rushing water as the creek picks up speed. At the bottom, the Cascades are best viewed from beneath a rock cave looking back up the Cascades. A brief sidetrack can be made from the Cascades by following the path for a short distance to a lookout directly above the Bridal Veil Falls. Return to the picnic area via the same pathway.

  • A red version of an older picture of Somersby Falls. Didn’t feel inspired to go out taking photos today so I have been mucking around with old pics in photoshop

  • The legendary Will Barton led two waterfall expeditions in the Blue Mountains this weekend – along with Warren Williams from Sth Africa, and Brett Still from Sydney, I was privileged to be able to take part in today’s shoot. THANK YOU Will for your patience, and your help! Here is offering No 1 – a small cameo of the stunning Bridal Veil Falls. SOLD Black matted print of this shot to an anonymous purchaser 12 March 09 … THANK YOU!! EXIF: / Aperture priority / F14 / 7 seconds / ISO 160 (the Sony R1 doesn’t go any lower) / Centreweighted It is VERY interesting to compare the shutter speed here with that in Leura Cascades No 1 – 7 seconds Vs 1/6 second. • Another shot in my series of shots from Ellenborough Falls in NSW. Ellenborough Falls has a spectacular single drop of around 200 metres to the valley below and is the second largest waterfall in the southern hemisphere. The Falls are found by travelling on Tourist drive eight from Taree, through Wingham and onto Elands. This road is sealed most of the way with a small amount of gravel winding road through scenic forests. I would recommend the walk to the bottom of the falls via the timber walkway and stairs for only the fit and hardy – allow 30 minutes down and 45 minutes back up. / / / /

  • Somersby Falls NSW after some heavy rain – Sept 2008

  • Taken on a wet day at Minnamurra Falls in the Budderoo National Park (about 15 mks inland from Kiama on the South Coast of NSW – Australia). I really like the seductive “S” curve! • Top of Britania Falls was shot last Tuesday in Valley of the Waters in Blue Mountains, NSW. Shot with my saved from drowning 85 mm f1.8 Lens baby and Hoya NDX400 aka Black Glass filter. I really like this image, and especially the positioning of three rocks under three streams of water, and three flat rocks below. The NDX400 filter also gives water that calming and enchanting effect. Please view large for details! Thank you for looking! • This cameo was in a dark corner, but I couldn’t bypass it! Have fiddled in PS and blended a second photo of pebbles to add to the aged look. FEATURED in For the love of Jesus Group June 2009 Landscapes Trees Cards EOD Rusty Flowers Architecture Macro CatchAll DM

  • Recently I disappeared from my everyday life to hide out in the beautiful Blue Mountains NSW. My objective was to relax, do as I please when I please, let the mind find it’s imagination again… dipping into fantasy as it pleases… but most of all to indulge in the luxury of time to create!!! On the first day of my little trip a fellow redbubbler had suggested that we meet up as she had a mission to do some photography at the Valley of the Waters, Wenworth Falls. Since I didn’t have a fixed plan I agreed. And so I met the wonderful TatianaR and we spent a very enjoyable day crawling around the creek at the bottom of all those gorgeous waterfalls. I haven’t had a lot of time to look at the photo’s I took that day… as when returning to the real world you usually find an abundant amount of work to catch up on… and so it was for me! This is just a ‘baby’ waterfall in the creek at the bottom of all those magnificent waterfalls… lol!
