“A Moment of Silence” Looking East From Picture Lake Into North Cascades National Park, Washington. The day I went up to Picture Lake to take this photo, it was extremely windy. I thought my day was wasted as I really wanted to capture the reflections of Mount Shuksan. When I got my camera set up for the shoot, the wind subsided and the resulting picture was taken. When I finished the shoot, the wind started up again and the reflections disappeared. That was a lucky day for me…....Lynn This photo was featured in two groups…Western US Artists and Photographers and Mountains and Light /

“Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.“ John Muir Photo taken at Groton State Forest, Vermont, October 2008. Had a wedding to attend a couple of weeks ago which gave me the opportunity to find a new area too shoot. So while my wife slept in I ventured up to Mt. Baker for Dawn and this was my reward. Kulshan Ridge Reflecting in the still waters of Picture Lake near Mt. Baker
I said a few times I would not go back and shoot Sylvia Falls in the Valley of the Waters in Blue Mountains National Park until I got a wide angle lens. This was simply because the full scope of the supreme beauty of these particular falls is within its wholeness, which can only really be shot wide. I got the lens last week. Return To Sylvia Falls – Valley Of The Waters was shot in RAW using a Canon EOS 10D with Sigma 10-20mm at 10mm with a Warm Filter, ISO 200, 1/10 of a sec at f5.6. Featured in MASTERS OF THE SCENIC, Blue Mountains of NSW, Canon DSLR, Nature’s Wonders, Shots in the Fog, and Your Magic Place. Best viewed large! _____ _____ I used the word Return in the title to acknowledge an earlier work shot several months earlier in 2008, with a different lens: _____ See also Splendour In The Mist, which was shot at the same time as Return To Sylvia Falls – Valley Of The Waters All three images are included in the Waterfalls Of The Blue Mountains 2009 Calendar, available now:

MY FAVORITE COUNTRY ROAD / Best viewed large. / / / / “MY FAVORITE COUNTRY ROAD” was featured in the group COUNTRY ROADS/AROUND THE WORLD / / / / “MY FAVORITE COUNTRY ROAD” was featured in the group NATURAL COLOR AND LIGHT / / / This is a recent photo of my favorite country road! It is located in Flatwoods, Kentucky, in Greenup County, which lies in the northeastern part of the bluegrass state. Many of my relatives live in or just outside of Flatwoods, and my Dad built this one. / / The scenery from this road is almost surreal, it is so beautiful. Surrounding this road are country farms, barns and old churches. This road winds around a gorgeous mountain cloaked with a variety of lush trees and evergreens, whose leaves are radiant in the Fall of the year with brilliant shades of yellow, orange, red, brown and green. / / At the top of the mountain is the end of this magnificent road, which leads to a private, gated mansion that overlooks the entire county. It is very quiet and peaceful there, and everything, including time, seems to stand still on this beautiful road. It is a breath-taking view from the very top, and this is truly my favorite country road!.. / / / To read and learn more about this special country road, / go to:COUNTRY ROAD

Photo taken late in the day at Bow Falls along the Bow River, Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada in the heart of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Notice the Elk crossing the river in the background, an added surprise while taking this photo !! / /
Glenmore Reservoir, Calgary, Alberta, Canada This was one my very first photo’s I took. There were many things I had not yet picked up. I had the iso on auto, which I think for this photo was about 400 – 800. This led to much of the noise in the sky. I had the aperture set at f22, which at the time I thought was best to bring more of the photo in focus but I later found it can soften the overall image. I also did not own a tripod so I had to balance the camera on some rocks which made composing the scene much harder then normal and led to a small amount of camera shake. In the end though this became the first photo I had taken that I was truly proud of and solidified my passion for photography.

WHEEEEEEE!!!! / 705 views on 11/7/09 This image was taken at the same time on October 10, 2009, and in relatively the same spot as Almost Home , but I was turned in the other direction, looking back the way I’d come. This area is within the Blue Knob State Park in Pavia, Pennsylvania on the extension of Pavia Road (4035). Image taken with the Nikon D300 and the 18-200m vr Nikon lens, hand held. Shutter 1/400, aperture f/10.0, exp. 0.00, iso 1,000. Duplicates created in Photoshop to an eval of +3, +1 and -3 and processed in Photomatix Pro for hdr, then returned to Photoshop for the addition of two textures and some tweaking. Well, actually, considerable tweaking. How do the road workers know to put their obnoxious signs RIGHT where I want to snap a shot??? And as for the RVers off to the left … well .. thank heavens for the clone tool, LOL!!! My thanks to Princess of Shadows at Deviant Art for the textures.
This is the Isle of Skye at it’s best, when there is a lot of colour in the landcsape, with the low sun we get this far North at this time of year, accentuating every detail. / This is the crofting community of Tarskavaig, with the glorious backdrop of the Cuillin Hills. / “Crofting” is small time farming, or “smallholding” where a few crops might be grown, and a small number of cattle or sheep kept. A single RAW file, shot on my Canon EOS 50D , polariser filter, f25, 1/2 sec, underexposed by 2/3 stop, iso 100, auto wb, processed in Adobe CR, then in CS3.
