  • A re-work of previously posted image. I love the work of Helene Kippert and PepperPepper – they both put a wonderful organic feel into their work. So here, in my own way, I’ve hoped to give this image a new life. / Thank H & P for your inspiration :) For enquires about canvas prints, or photographic prints larger than Redbubble options, please contact me via bubblemail

  • AS IS Canon PowerShot S3 IS 6mp “Autumn Drive on the Pig Trail” U.S. Arkansas State Highway 23 S. Better known as the Pig Trail Bypass. I love to shoot fall colors right after the rain; the moisture saturates the colors, and makes them POP. /

  • / “Nothing Gold can Stay” is part of the Landscape and Skyscape Series...see other Skyscapes and Landscapes, from the Series below... Watercolour on Arches Not 300lb Paper… Nature’s first green is gold, / Her hardest hue to hold. / Her early leaf’s a flower; / But only so an hour. / Then leaf subsides to leaf. / So Eden sank to grief, / So dawn goes down to day. / Nothing gold can stay....Robert Frost Nothing Gold can Stay Music… “Nothing Gold Can Stay” is one of Robert Frost’s most famous poems. Written in 1923, this poem was published in The Yale Review in October of that year. Some say the poem helped Frost to win a Pulitzer Prize. Only eight lines long, this poem is still considered one of Frost’s best. “Nothing Gold Can Stay” is also featured in the novel The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton and its film adaptation. The American rock band New Found Glory also used the title for their album of the same name...Wiki… Nothing Gold Can Stay” explicitly describes identical moments in three temporal cycles: the daily, the yearly, and the mythic. In each case the poem depicts the moment when the promise of perfection declines into something lesser. Gold unabashedly becomes a symbol–a very traditional one–for the highest value and most radiant beauty. Spring, dawn, and Eden are each a sort of Golden Age, an impermanent paradise. / What lies ahead is never stated overtly, but it is inarguably present by implication. Day is inevitably followed by night. Summer is succeeded by fall and winter. The green leaf eventually turns brown and decays. The loss of Eden gave Adam and Eve mortality. Human youth, by implication, is followed by maturity, old age, and ultimately death. The golden moment, therefore, is all the more precious because it is transitory. By focusing on a single moment, Frost evokes an entire day, year, lifetime, and human history...Dana Gioia. / / / / /

This is the same road as shown in “A Golden Day” but taken in late afternoon as opposed to morning, and about a year later, October 12, 2008. This is also a bit earlier in the season than the previous scene, so the trees are much fuller. I used the Nikon D40x with the 18-135 lens and the polarizing filter. Blue Knob mountain, Pennsylvania. • I never did get around to posting all my autumn shots….so here’s another one…there’s a huge group of photogs all massed across the other side, trying to jostle for position on shifting reed beds and yuckky mud, and further across there’s a couple more. I gave up waiting over that side, and moved to the western edge to see what I could see…..now you can see what I could see :) This was processed in NZ with photomatix, back when I was probably a little overwhelmed by the colour….I might reprocess it and see if I like it better with my newer techniques New Zealand / Seascapes / Frogs / Lensbaby / Infrared / Industrial / Spam / Panorama / Landscapes / Real Estate Series / People

  • Well, I spotted this out on my Saturday hike from above and scouted for a way down into the capture the scene. What I found was a impenetrable blend of steep banks and thick brush covered in Poison Ivy and Devils Club. Common sense told me to let it go but in the end I slid down using my tripod as a walking stick and managed to get to waters edge with both feet and behind a bit wet. I hope it was worth it for it seemed so at the time to me. Golden leaves on a moss covered boulder in a small stream contrast nicely against rushing water

  • Best Viewed Larger This beautiful road is one of my favorite parts of the drive to our cabin in Pennsylvania. To the right is Chappell Field, a part of Blue Knob State Park on the extension of Pavia Road (4035), and is frequently the site of fairs and concerts and happy picnickers. Over my shoulder and between the trees is a magnificent view of the valley which I’ve tried to capture over and over again … one of these days I’ll get it right. Image taken on October 11, 2009 with the Nikon D300 and the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens. UV and CP filters attached. Shutter 1/320, f/9.0, exp. 0.00, iso 1600. Post processing work included hdr in Photomatix from a single hand-held image at +/- 2 created in Photoshop. Other tweakings included deletion of a hideous flat white cloud, area filled with blue and addition of fluffy clouds (thank you Obsidian Dawn for the cloud brushes) in Photoshop, plus the addition of two textures … thank you to Princess of Shadows at Deviant Art. Also available Texture Free /

  • Best on Full Size This image was taken at the same time on October 10, 2009, and in relatively the same spot as Almost Home but I was turned in the other direction, looking back the way I’d come. This area is within the Blue Knob State Park in Pavia, Pennsylvania on the extension of Pavia Road (4035). Image taken with the Nikon D300 and the 18-200m vr Nikon lens, hand held. Shutter 1/400, aperture f/10.0, exp. 0.00, iso 1,000. Duplicates created in Photoshop to an eval of +3, +1 and -3 and processed in Photomatix Pro for hdr, then returned to Photoshop for the addition of two textures and some tweaking. My thanks to Princess of Shadows at Deviant Art for the textures.
