Some time back, I visited Newstead Abbey in Notinghamshire. It is the former home of the writer Lord Byron. We had a nice family day out, walking around the grounds and into the designed gardens. I took this shot in the Japanese garden. I had to lay down on the muddy bridge to get this shot and several more like it, but it was worth getting dirty. “Beautyberry” is part of the Winter collection…”Callicarpa bodinieri var. giraldii, Beautyberry is a gorgeous shrub that can grow to 10 ft. tall…it’s has lovely flowers in late summer, but in the autumn incredible jewel like amethyst coloured berries appear, that stay on till winter finally sets in…I plant lots of dfferent shrubs with berries in my garden so there is always a show even when the all the leaves are gone.. / I added touches of frost to the leaves, which often happens in late fall Watercolour on Fabriano Not Paper See more of the Winter/Christmas Collection / HERE
