This is the “Pumpkin Farm” I’ve referred to in several of my earlier posts. It is a wonderful place to visit in October with the changing leaves and the pumpkins. Found along Hwy. 611 south of Easton, PA.

An old abandoned Farm house in Yorkshire, a place called Crow edge, not much left now, The person i went with today told me she used to play in here when she was a child, it was empty then!! such a shame, this really was a beautiful house, more pics to follow soon of the outside.

Doodle Bug
by BigDThis is a 1938 or 1939 International truck with a straight flat head 8 engine in it. On the dash is the two speed button for the transmission. My brother-in-law called it the doodle bug and I don’t know why either. He used the truck to roll the hay fields in the spring when he was farming. Taken on 11/01/2008 in the town of Windham. It is located in Flatwoods, Kentucky, in Greenup County, which lies in the northeastern part of the bluegrass state. Many of my relatives live in or just outside of Flatwoods, and my Dad built this one. / / The scenery from this road is almost surreal, it is so beautiful. Surrounding this road are country farms, barns and old churches. This road winds around a gorgeous mountain cloaked with a variety of lush trees and evergreens, whose leaves are radiant in the Fall of the year with brilliant shades of yellow, orange, red, brown and green. / / At the top of the mountain is the end of this magnificent road, which leads to a private, gated mansion that overlooks the entire county. It is very quiet and peaceful there, and everything, including time, seems to stand still on this beautiful road. I wonder where this path leads? During a motorcycle trip to Georgia, I passed by this scene and just had to turn around. The ground fog was just wicked, it was shrouding this path which I presume belongs to a rural farm. Taken with the Nikon D300 and Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 lens. HDR processing and Orton effect applied, as well as some dodge & burn.

Another capture of a lovely old barn not from from my home in Montgomery County, Maryland. We’ve had another remarkably wet summer … we don’t often see greens like this in July and August!!! Hand held mage taken in the early evening of July 9, 2009 with the Nikon D300 and the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens. Shutter 1/250, aperture f/8.0, exp .33, iso 500. Two duplicates created in Photoshop to +1/-3 then processed in Photomatix to create this hdr image. A little tweaking in Painter for blending. Levels, dodging and burning in Photoshop. Artist’s Note: I love everything about the Fall: harvests of apples and pumpkins, cool evenings with full orange moon, windy days for kite flying, children dressing up in costumes… the Scarecrow / Standing among giants of sunflowers, / Bright pumpkins growing at my feet. / Crows caw and leaves float on the breeze, / Old green tractor chugs a lively beat. Children sweetly laughed into my hair, / Sticky hands with fresh straw to stuff. / Vintage clothes & buttons bound me now, / Soft cotton flannel is plenty warm enough. I may be made to look scary to a bird, / But really, aren’t I quite nice and smart? / Take this leather gloved hand to hold, / I am not fake, this body has a heart. Dorothy knew me, that courageous Lion too. / So, see my face and know I feel, / for in the mind of a child… / I become real. Best on Full Size Wandering around my cousin’s farm in Davidsonville, Maryland, I fell in love with so many images. This was taken from the inside of an old tobacco barn which we calculate to be well over a hundred years old. This image is a compilation of two shots, both my own. The barn image, RAW, taken on my Manfrotto tripod, was shot on a disappointingly gray and overcast October 29, 2009 with the Nikon D300. Shutter 1/500, aperture f/11.0, exp 0.00, iso 1600. Sky image, a hand held jpeg, was taken August 29, 2009 with the Nikon D300, shutter 1/640, aperture f/13, exp -.67, iso 400. Lens was 18-200mm vr Nikon in both cases. After the image was combined, I created an hdr in Photomatix by duplicating the jpeg to evals of +1 and -2 in Photoshop. Lots of Photoshop tweaking including addition of 2 textures. This image is a compilation of two shots, plus several textures. The barn is located in Montgomery County, Maryland, off of Gregg Road, and was snapped on October 28, 2009. The eagles were snapped on November 21, 2009 at the Conowingo Dam in Conowingo, Maryland. Both taken with the Nikon D300. Lens used on the barn was the Nikon 18-200mm vr, and the eagles with the Nikon 70-300mm vr. The combined image was duplicated in Photoshop to evals of +3, +1 and -1 and processed in Photomatix 3.2.6 as an HDR image. Textures and various blendings completed in Photoshop.
