  • I was thinking of Julie Langford’s dear mother as I worked on this image, and I kept thinking how we all must undergo metamorphosis as we make the transition from this world where light is exterior to the next world where the interior light of our Maker can finally show through when we shed our caterpillar casing and spread our butterfly wings in the new life.

  • A Lion once fell in love with a beautiful maiden and proposed marriage to her parents. The old people did not know what to say. They did not like to give their daughter to the Lion, yet they did not wish to enrage the King of Beasts. At last the father said: “We feel highly honoured by your Majesty’s proposal, but you see our daughter is a tender young thing, and we fear that in the vehemence of your affection you might possibly do her some injury. Might I venture to suggest that your Majesty should have your claws removed, and your teeth extracted, then we would gladly consider your proposal again.” The Lion was so much in love that he had his claws trimmed and his big teeth taken out. But when he came again to the parents of the young girl they simply laughed in / his face, and bade him do his worst. Love can tame the wildest

  • i started this painting years ago and it took some time til (it )decided (it ) was done….still without finish. it has been and is connected to my seeking…or spiritual process…looking at and being with the journey…. unattached yet present. i feel strongly about my art speaking for itself since the art work creates itself in a sense and i just listen and do. i trust each individual and their own personal journey. putting my words thoughts ideas or translation feels inappropriate. i trust everyone to receive their own message through the viewing and their own intimate relationship with the work. mixed media on wood

  • Though this is far from a true B&W image, I thought the title was well suited. This original capture was in color, shot of Mount Shasta in Northern CA in September, 2007…...inverted and the data converted to B&W…..some final editing was done for the finished effect. • Phoenix; a mythical bird that dies in flames and is reborn from the ashes ( Wikipedia) All profits of this painting will be going to the Victorian Bushfire Relief Fund. / If you want to donate too go here I may fall down a thousand times..i know by now i have the strength to rise again also…. This past weekend someone showed me a video about an australian guy without limbs… he was talking to a group of schoolgirls and at a certain point he showed them his vulnerabillity by falling down… teaching them you can give in at that point and say i can’t get up on my own.. but you can also decide to give it a go.. and keep trying untill you find a way… trusting in god and in your own strength.. The vid. brought tears to my eyes… so often i thought i had hard times in my life.. seeing this guy enjoying his life to the fullest made me once more aware it is all about how you look at life, sure we all get our moments where we have our doubts.. but we can decide to step out of the downwards and create something else for ourselves it is a matter of creating other thoughts… Easy??? No… but determination is the keyword… the will to change.. the will to accept the gift of life in all its aspects and the abillity to see it is all about the journey we take from one life to the other. Serenity prayer

  • this piece is special to me – i do a lot of women in open spaces – and try to give them a feeling of freedom or breaking free. / This is named after a character in a book called, “Hinds Feet on High Places”. / The girl’s name in the beginning of the story is “Much Afraid” – and I like to think of her here after her transformation…. / I won’t tell you her new name – you’ll have to read the book to find out. The book “Hinds Feet on High Places” is an allegorical novel by English author Hannah Hurnard. Hinds’ Feet was written in 1955 and has become a very successful work of Christian fiction, seeing new editions published as recently as July, 2005. Plot introduction / It is the story of a young woman named Much-Afraid, and her journey away from her Fearing family and into the High Places of the Shepherd, guided by her two companions Sorrow and Suffering. It is an allegory of a Christian devotional life. The book takes its title from Habakkuk 3:19, “The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places.” stock / mjranum-stock.deviantart.com / sxc.hu / an my own photos for blending

  • This is seven, my son’s American Pitt Bull Terrier captured on 08/13/09; she’s now about 1.5 years of age and such a beautiful and loving dog. She loves smiling for the camera! / / /

  • I love to do manips and imagine them as someone in historic times – I hardly ever do that—anyway – here is one in honor of “Saint Elizabeth of Hungary” - / using stock from iardacil-stock.deviantart.com / castle stock – lilystox.deviantart.com / the rest sxc.hu St. Elizabeth was born in Hungary in 1207, the daughter of Alexander II, King of Hungary. At the age of four she was sent for education to the court of the Landgrave of Thuringia, to whose infant son she was betrothed. As she grew in age, her piety also increased by leaps and bounds. In 1221, she married Louis of Thuringia and in spite of her position at court began to lead an austerely simple life, practiced penance, and devoted herself to works of charity. Her husband was himself much inclined to religion and highly esteemed her virtue, encouraging her in her exemplary life. They had three children when tragedy struck – Louis was killed while fighting with the Crusaders. After his death, Elizabeth left the court, made arrangements for the care of her children, and in 1228, renounced the world, becoming a tertiary of St. Francis. She built the Franciscan hospital at Marburg and devoted herself to the care of the sick until her death at the age of 24 in 1231. St. Elizabeth is the patron saint of bakers, countesses, death of children, falsely accused, the homeless, nursing services, tertiaries, widows, and young brides. Her symbols are alms, flowers, bread, the poor, and a pitcher. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ I wanted to show her as leaving everything behind = the castle high on a hill—and all that was her life of riches and material possessions. / I thought this model conveyed it well…. / I hope you think so too. I’m submitting to “Let’s Pay Homage” Group to show my admiration of this special lady….

  • http://digital-amphetamine.deviantart.com/ http://surfindamatrixstk.deviantart.com/ I think a lot of people right now feel as though they are on the brink of losing it…. / “It” could mean a lot. Their life, their jobs, their loved ones, their homes, their minds… / some contemplate suicide. You can look at this piece in whatever way you take it – but I hope you will choose to “Dare to Trust”. Peace during this Holiday Season….
