Sacred Heart mixed medium painting with Sanskrit prayer shard from a Tibetan prayer flag.
A beautiful little statue that, tragically, stands above a child’s grave in my local cemetery.
A couple of years ago, I designed this image and sent it to family and friends as a Christmas greeting. The photo is of a stained glass window in a lovely old Catholic church in southern Louisiana.

Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit “If you love me, you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.” John 14:15-21
And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness / Acts 4:31

“Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Ephesians 6: 1-17 18”X24” Prismacolor Colored Pencils on a Bristol Board + 8 Hours.

The Priestly Blessing, (Hebrew: Birkat Kohanim), also known in Hebrew as Nesiat Kapayim, (lit. Raising of the Hands), is a Jewish prayer recited by Kohanim during certain Jewish services. It is based on a scriptural verse: “They shall place My name upon the children of Israel, and I Myself shall bless them.” It consists of the following Biblical verses (Numbers 6:24-26): May the Lord bless you and guard you. / May the Lord shine His countenance toward you and be gracious to you. / May the Lord lift up His countenance toward you and give you peace. The source of the text is Numbers 6:23-27, where Aaron and his sons bless the Israelites with this blessing. This is the oldest known Biblical text that has been found; amulets with these verses written on them have been found in graves in dating from the First Temple Period, and are now in the Israel Museum, Jerusalem. Various interpretations of these verses connect them to the three Patriarchs; Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, or to three attributes of God; Mercy, Courage, and Glory. I shot the image during Birkat Kohanim at the Western Wall Jerusalem, Passover April 22 2008. / It’s a new tradition that every Passover there is a mass ceremony of Birkat Chohanim in the Wstern Wall. featured in the following groups: / Art of the Middle East / Bagels and Lox – Jewish themed art and writing / ImageWriting / Happy Haven Photography / Dimensions / All Street Portraiture & Photography

Thoughts of the After-Life fascinate us all, the mystery and fear of death have plagued man-and-women-kind since our very beginning. Somehow I know that those we love are always with us. We miss their touch, and I only dream that after this world we feel the arms of our loved ones embrace us once again. Faith can be a constant struggle, but one we must not lose. Love lives on, Angels are among us, and there is more than what we see and understand. Other worlds, Heaven, Destiny… what awaits us we must face with courage, and faith.
St. Lambert’s Church, Münster, Germany
Part of a window in the beautiful little Saint Mark’s Chapel close to the Altenberger Dom, Germany. / The chapel was consecrated in 1145 or 1147 by Archbishop Arnold of Cologne. / Here the monastery held their services while the first Romanesque convent church was built (1125-1160). / Later it was for the sick and the tramontanes. John the Evangelist was the son of Zebedee and Salome, and brother of James (Saint James the Greater), another of the Twelve Apostles. Yochanan – as he most likely was called – was one of Christ’s original twelve apostles; the only one to live into old age; and not martyred for his faith, his traditional tomb is thought to be located at Selçuk, a small town in the vicinity of Ephesus. / He is believed to be the author of the Gospel of John, the Epistles of John, and the Book of Revelation. (Well, the author of Revelation identifies himself as “John” several times, but the author of the Gospel of John never identifies himself directly. And Saint Mark’s name was also John. He was “John, who’s surname was Mark”.) Originally, he and his brother were fishermen and fished with their father in the Lake of Genesareth. According to the usual and entirely probable explanation they became, however, for a time disciples of John the Baptist, and were called by Christ from the circle of John’s followers, together with Peter and Andrew, to become His disciples. partly from Wikipedia
Cosmos still in bud stage. A baby! As humans, so much we need to be taught, so we can live our lives, so as to “please the Lord”, and then, be granted all of the promises of God! Only TRUE love can bring out this love, and only the trials we go through, and us, being steadfast through them, by “FAITH”, in the One, who can give the “grace” to with stand all! Else, we would die from “pain”, and bitterness of spirit! SO much pain in the world, today, as we watch it fall apart, and move away from ALL that is HOLY!! Little do they know, that they are leaving real joy and happiness behind, never to KNOW it.. NEVER to experience it, now, or for eternity! NOT worked for, but only by grace through FAITH.. Ephesians. 2:8-9. A FREE gift, for any who believe in the Son of God. Thank you Lord… “Thank you”!! / /
\ / My idea of a holy picture, like the ones we used to have when we were little with a contemporary feel to it. St Agnes of Rome (c. 291 – c.304 virgin–martyr) is often depicted carrying a little lamb. She is the patron saint of chastity, gardeners, girls, engaged couples, rape victims, and virgins. Read more about her here in Wikepedia and more in my recent journal here the poem The Eve of St Agnes by John Keats (thanx to izzybeth for reminding me of it to include here)
