Title:From the Sea / Artist: Jessica Tremp / Model: Jo O’Brien THE MERMAID A mermaid found a swimming lad, / Picked him for her own, / Pressed her body to his body, / Laughed; and plunging down / Forgot in cruel happiness / That even lovers drown. William Butler Yeats a few of my favourite things come together…mystery, the sea, earthy colours and textures and an overall sense of whimsicality and melancholy

Like a fairytale castle Mont Saint Michel at dusk in the rain, I got wet and cold but it was worth it for images like this.

Title: Woke Up From the Strangest Dream / Artist: Jessica Tremp / Model: Jo O’Brien I dreamt of a stormy, wild sea. / Starfish clung anxiously to my eager limbs as I swam through murky waters hastily, escaping vicious sharks onto a windswept dark beach, where lovers ran from rogue waves up sandy banks to reach a safe haven of warm golden sun-kissed hair. / Intertwining. / Until one of them is swept away out of the others desperate clutches by angry water under a moist sky, slipping from unwired fingers and left counting an exhausted dolphin’s last heartbeats, cradling on the anguished shore of the sad, sad silence. other image from this location

This is my absolute favourite paring ever! My reproduction of an artwork called Lily’s Embrace done by Perselus on deviantart.com. (I have contacted the original artist, and she is aware that my reproduction of her work is posted here.) Done in pencil. A Severus Snape/Lily (Evans) Potter fan piece. April 20 2008 update – reworked Snape’s lips to include the hint of a smile. Check out all of my Snape art here

Photographic based digital montage – Feb, 2008. Created over several hrs…2 nights this week (suffering from concussion) from an accidental fall over the wk’end. Photoshop montage combining digital shots of jewels, scanned samples of vintage style wallpaper and added drawn elements. Fifty layers retouched, blended, filtered, colour & tonal curve adjusted. I want to use the design as a furniture (upholstering) fine velvet/suede fabric for a small round bedroom foot stool. Nice to spend time on my own artwork. After work husband Dave & I pretty much spend all our spare time refurbishing our 123yr old vict. terrace…so a bump to the head stopping me in my tracks wasn’t such a bad thing after all.

Watercolor on watercolor board / I’ve always been enamoured with dragons and their mythology. Their role in myth and spirituality is one of opposites. Like everything else, they personify both Light and Shadow. Duality and the unification of the opposites is an interesting concept for us artists, isnt it? Often the shadow within, and the most difficult , painful periods ultimatly prove the most empowering. Draw strength from this, move through it, work with it. Its easy for life to become mundane, crammed with obligations and distractions, and gradually we cease savoring the sacred and magic contained within each new day. Somnambulant, we are unaware of the power, the fire which is ours. Trust that always within there’s an ember burning; Dragonfire glowing at the center of our being. Awaken from the ever shifting dream and access Nwyvre, the Dragonfire, within. Text and image copyright Helena Nelson -Reed

The Changling – Dragon Tales Wouldn’t it be wonderful to find this on a walk in the forest! As a child I was given a book called The Butterflies Ball and I just adored the full page colour illustrations. I would stare for hours at the illustrations of fantastic creatures, it was wonderful fuel for the imagination of a child;) Image copyright © 2008 Shanina Conway. all models cleared by contract, all pictures, photoshop by Sandy Viktor Nys / This series where actually snapshots I took from Oksana. After a photo session she took a bath, but still wearing all the false hair. Ofcourse I asked her to pose again, telling me her stories without words. / / On the snapshot I put the big secret soft skin trick, painted in again details of eyes, nose and lips. Lighten white of eyes with dodge, darkened eyelashes with burn. / Masked out her background and put her on top of mixed scans from abstract pen drawings. / Made a copy of Oksana layer and put a diffuse glow filter on this layer. / Made several copies of both Oksana layers and adjusted them to each other with overlay, lighten etc. and opacity until I liked the color.
