This is the same image as “Night fAiry,” but I added a border and text to it. I thought the text was fitting for the sentiment behind the picture.
2008. Age 21. This was drawn in pencil and outlined in black biro pen. I used watercolours to add colour and then finally polished up a little in photoshop. This picture was inspired by an image I saw in the magazine ‘ImagineFX’ (whilst cheekily flicking through in the shop!). I had no reference whilst drawing this, just used the image left printed in my mind, so how close it is to the original inspiriational piece I cannot say. I didn’t want it to look the same tho… I wanted her to look a little sad and dreamy, like she is waiting for someone.
Featured in First Things, Painted Nature, and Color Me a Rainbow groups Acrylic on 9×12 canvas board- Inspired by the song “Open Channel” by Kan’Nal. This entire piece was created while listening to both of Kan’Nal’s CDs on repeat. (Dreamwalker & Kan’Nal) I was in a very bright mood and felt that it translated onto the canvas in the yellow background. As I was letting it dry, I kept being drawn to the song ‘Open Channel’. Everytime the chanting and primal beats of the chorus would start, I would have to get up and move my body. It’s impossible to listen to this band and not feel the urge to move! “And there was always something / Up in the mountain and in the ocean, / A channel that is open to anyone / who would listen to, I listen to it. Ooh jah a leh ah Ooh jah a leh leh leh leh / Ooh jah a leh ah Ooh jah a leh leh leh leh / Ooh jah a leh ah Ooh jah a leh leh leh leh / Ooh jah a leh ah Ooh jah a leh leh leh leh” Each time I would close my eyes, I would see vibrant bursts of reds and oranges against all that yellow. So I started with the random drips of paint blown about by my straw. The tree trunk, branches, and roots came next. Something about the title, ‘Open Channel’, made me depict the tree connected to nothing….and everything at the same time. I added the darker red leaves/petals and began looking over the painting to see if I was, indeed, finished. ‘Palenque Rain Song’ was playing, the soft sound of rain drops filling my head. (This is a wonderful meditation song!) During the rain, a bell chimed – it was like someone hitting a gong or turning on a switch in my head. I knew then that there were some little faeries that wanted to live in this tree. They are not detailed, they are glowing with energy, they resemble dragonflies because the viewer does not yet see them as real beings. This was a part of my first feature in ‘The Buyer’s Booth’ Open Channel Lyrics / Kan’Nal

This is a photo of my niece that I shot before I had a digital camera. I scanned the photo, added it over and image by CruelDreams that I edited in ps by using the channel mixer, dodging, burning, cloning and added text. Took a photo of a butterfly and selected each wing section separately and cut and moved them into position using transform. Adjusted the opacity of those layers to give each wing section a transparent appearance. Painted with the airbrush tool on a lower opacity over the wings to make the colors tie in with the costume. Also used the airbrush with warm color to add the effect of light coming from her wand illuminating the darkness around her and added touches to her and her wings where I felt the light would hit.

This is a photograph of my youngest daughter/model Shae. We wanted to play around with light. My oldest daughter Kaila did the makeup and hair. I think I may change the pixie wish dust when I find my way around gimp, I wanted something more magical. The three of us girls are in love with the idea of fairies being real and I want to do it justice. This is a book I recommend to anyone of any age if they love tiny treasures in nature and a little make believe…...fairy Island well…........we like making these things….....
Oh another silly fantasy creation! Not quite sure where this came from or was going! It started with a peacock, which as you can see is no longer there! Dress and legs STOCK / Wings STOCK / Some of the background STOCK & STOCK

Digital finger painting (with a mouse), completed through the wee small hours. I’m having trouble sleeping, too many images in my head. Even when I’m asleep, I’m drawing in my dreams. I’m having so much fun experimenting with digital, it’s a new medium for me and I just love it. FEATURED in ‘Creative Cards’ August, 2009 / FEATURED in ‘Lifeline’ August, 2009 /
i know that this isnt the greatest shot, and its out of focus! but i find it quite endearing! for me it has the feel of frost!!!!!!!!!
Because cards are not just for birthdays and holidays!! Because you know someone will love the fact that you thought they were important enough to reconnect through ‘real’ mail (and let’s face it, who wouldn’t love receiving a card from you?).
