based on Madron Holy Well in South Cornwall. The tradition of hanging offerings of flowers and rags and ribbons is still in practice today amongst Pagans in the UK. This image was inspired by the beauty and fertility of may when the bluebells and Horse Chestnut is in bloom and mayday (Beltane) is the traditional time for well dressings and leaving offerings to the water spirits and fairies.

This Fairy was painted using watercolour and acrylic. I scanned the finished piece into the computer and then enhanced it digitally. She was created for my youngest daughter Emily who was afraid at night. The night-time fairy now watches over her in her bedroom and guess what???? She’s not scared now!!! Yey Night-time Fairy :)

This is a photograph of my youngest daughter/model Shae. We wanted to play around with light. My oldest daughter Kaila did the makeup and hair. I think I may change the pixie wish dust when I find my way around gimp, I wanted something more magical. The three of us girls are in love with the idea of fairies being real and I want to do it justice. This is a book I recommend to anyone of any age if they love tiny treasures in nature and a little make believe…...fairy Island well…........we like making these things….....

WAKING UP IRIS / By: DALE CRUM Once upon a spring time fair / There slept a lass of crimson hair / Inside iris folds of petals soft / She rested there her mind aloft / In sweetest dreams of hopeful love / Of a tender flight on wings of dove / Above the shadows here below / Through beams of radiating glow / To a pixy prince she does adore / To be with him forevermore / Tiny slumbering pixy’s yearning / Sanguine thoughts of lovers learning / Holding hands, smiling eyes of bliss / Whispered promise and love’s first kiss / Then the morning rays of warming glow / Touched her silken face ever so / Gently woke her from fondest trance / So fairest pixy might once more dance / Across the poppy blooms so red / With dogwoods dancing round her head / To flutter over the foggy lake / Above the pond… teasing koi awake / The crimson princess hath begun her day / Tripping lightly in her pixy way / With smiles and laughs and joy to share / To spread her happiness everywhere *This one I made from all original photos.
