. Dryad; The departure of Autumn and arrival of winter The nights are growing cool, leaves swirling from the trees. A few of the hardiest wildflowers adorn meadow and hedgerow. I prepare for the arrival of days bleak with driving rain, nights laced in ice, gather a few remaining flowers whose faded scent will serve to remind me on cold nights of summer’s long days of sun and heat. My home is a large, ancient oak with low gnarled branches and deeply furrowed bark. Mirroring a full crown overhead, her thick roots delve down and radiate outward, keeping us anchored and safe in stormy winds. I gather autumn wildflowers for my bower inside the oak, where I’ll sleep sound as a baby in the womb awaiting rebirth into the world of light. All summer fragrant blossoms such as these adorned my hair and gowns, sunny days and sultry nights spent with Pan, the satyrs, nymphs, and my sister dryads. Now they’ll lay crushed and fragrant beneath me, bringing sweet dreams of what is to come. / Text copyright Helena Nelson -Reed 2007

This image is a reminder to keep your dream and vision of what you desire to create alive. Breath light and life into it everyday. Know that nature and all of the elements support you in creating your dream. Earth is represented by the tree bark which comes from some of the largest Live Oak trees in the United States. Air is representrd by the breath. Fire is represented by the ball of light, which symbolizes your dream, your passion. Water is represented by the subtle ripples of water along the lower portion of the image. Believe in your dream, breath life into it, keep it alive, until you have believed it into being.

Read the Collaboration of Written Work by Tony Hedger Part 2 of 2 / The way to get there is many in choice, / But a good first step is the inner voice. / By air, or water, by earth or fire, / Fairyland is your hearts desire. There you are free, all you can be, / And everything is real. / You could sit for a while, / Upon a sundial, / And chase the rays of the light, / You could float on the air, / Without any care, / Or fly with butterfly wings. / Buzz with the bees, and fly through the trees, / Float down with the falling leaves. You could go on a boat, / Through sparkling waters, / Made out of the shell of a tortoise. / Sit in the ring where the fairies all sing, / Drink, dance, fairy fling. / Diddle on the fiddle, play fairy in the middle, / Sparkle, shine, drink buttercup wine. / T’is close, you must believe, / Just follow the voice from within. My apologies for having no originality in flower choice but as you can see, I love my plain old dandelions! Anyway, in this image there are 3 stages of flower from the same plant, the bud, the flower and the post-flower fairy which to me are like 3 generations. I chose the layers and treatment to reflect all 3 generations by being aged yet still bright and not faded.
