Traverse City: Northwest Michigan Fair 2006 Carnival midway on a mid summer’s night; from a series: Sunset on the Small Town Carnival. Owing to the rise of mega-parks and high liability insurance, small town carnivals are rapidly disappearing. Whenever possible i try to document this vanishing aspect of the Twentieth Century American landscape.

This ride at the Lane County Fair, in Eugene, Oregon, Is called the “Drop Zone”. It takes you to the top, and then quickely drops you. Ugh, My stomach dropped, “parden the pun”, just watching it.
