  • Photoshop and Wacom tablet. I used a photo for the background and painted the rest using references.

  • This painting was done in watercolours and oil pastels, and is inspired by Nature and the magical place where we live: “Mother Earth’s green eyes / Forever watch over us, / She who dances and sings / with all living things.”

  • Inspired from ‘The Visit’ a song by Loreena McKennitt. / I began to make this creation and i was singing her songs… My gallery is Copyright © Wandering Soul. • Sometimes faeries take humans away to beautiful, magical places but sometimes, the places they take us are dark and not so beautiful. This was done for a project themed “Fear’s Playground.” It’s based on a nightmare I had a few years ago where this malevolent nixie was terrorizing a small town and killing off young men. The dream started with her drowning a surfer so that’s the scene I illustrated here. It was actually a rather terrifying dream—I guess because I have such a strong fear of drowning.

  • ‘I know a bank where the wild thyme blows, / Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows, / Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine, / With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine.’ A Midsummer Night’s Dream Quote. Act ii. Scene.1 This is a Through the Viewfinder Image and has been taken with a Kodak Duaflex 75.

  • The Green Fairy ( La Fee Verte) / Now available in Print and Poster size. The Green fairy was source of artistic inspiration and enlightenment to the likes of Picasso, Oscar Wilde, Lautrec, Crowley, Van Gogh and Poe. The effects of the Green Fairy were probably best summed up by Oscar Wilde: “The first stage is like ordinary drinking, the second when you begin to see monstrous and cruel things, but if you can persevere you will enter in upon the third stage where you see things that you want to see, wonderful curious things.” “Absinthe has a wonderful colour, green. A glass of absinthe is as poetical as anything in the world. What difference is there between a glass of absinthe and a sunset?”—Wilde / In the early 1900’s a series of Children’s books featuring the green fairy were pulished. / Also Available in Card format click card to see more details

  • Featured in Halloween and Inspired Art groups Original is Acrylic on 9×12 canvas board- Inspired by the song ‘A Beautiful Lie’ by 30 Seconds to Mars. I was watching the music video for “A Beautiful Lie” by 30 Seconds to Mars, and was really touched by the intro with the Eskimos. (If you haven’t seen it yet, the link to the video is below) The band is really breaking grounds by putting this environmental awareness stuff out there. (It can make or break your career in the music biz) I also thought that the director/photographer for the video was a genious! It’s such a captivating and stunning video, the shots of the scenery is amazing! So….I downloaded the CD. (It’s one of my faves right now….GREAT music!) Without the video to distract, I listened to the song with my eyes closed, as I knew this one would work for my next painting. (This is kinda part of my process right now. LOL) The little electric sounds at the beginning and end of the song made me feel like I was either falling into space or just into the dark oblivion. Empty, alone, fragile…..that’s where the background came from. IT’s a deep deep blue almost black – I added the parts that kind of spin out from the inner circle to show that things are spinning out of controll and that you’re spiraling down into the depths of something. Once I had the background done, I went back to listening to the song while the paint dried. This time, I saw that poor poor faerie was the one falling into nothing. This is when I decided to keep everything dark – whites blacks and grays – because I knew there would be an explosion of red. The white and gray leaves came next. I felt like the gray wasn’t the right color, but thought it might look better after adding the trunk and branches. So, I went with a solid black for that. I chose the black to keep with the dark theme, but also because it would really stand out in some parts, yet kind of fade into the background in other areas. (A Beautiful Lie – this is a beautiful tree, but is it really there?) This is when I hated it and wanted to trash it and start over! Instead, I stepped away from it for 2 days – came back refreshed and decided to add in the red & silver. I did the silver to throw in a brighter color to balance the piece a bit, but to also show the etherealness of the faerie. The faerie has fallen and was basically held by the tree. Shes fading into the background and there are spots of her silver body throughout the piece. She’s kind of becoming everything around her. I very much believe in reincarnation and life after death. (Which is also why the pose is almost like the crusifix.) It’s kind of a play on organized religion and what we’ve been told about death in general – It’s all a beautiful lie! :) The red was chosen to symbolize blood. This makes the viewer pose some questions – is it all blood? are those blood splatters or wings? are those blood spots or flowers in the tree? All in all, it’s a play on reality – what’s really there? what isn’t? Is it all just a beautiful lie?! “Lie awake in bed at night / And think about your life / Do you want to be different? / Try to let go of the truth / The battles of your youth / ‘Cause this is just a game It’s a beautiful lie / It’s a perfect denial / Such a beautiful lie to believe in / So beautiful, beautiful it makes me…” Full lyrics / A Beautiful Lie Video / 30 Seconds to Mars *This image also goes along with the poem Something Wicked by autumnwind as part of a collaboration for the Halloween Art & Writing Challenge in the Halloween Group *

  • The Aos Sidhe (pronounced “ess shee”), are a powerful, supernatural race comparable to the fairies or elves of other traditions. / They live in an invisible world that coexists with the world of humans. / The Gaelic Otherworld is seen as being closer at the times of dusk and dawn, therefore this is seen as a time special to the Aos Sidhe, as are some of the festivals such as Samhain and Midsummer. The Aos Sidhe are generally described as stunningly beautiful, though they can also be terrible and hideous. I cursed myself for walking too deep into the forest and missing seeing the sunset from the view point high on the hillside like i intended, but the evening rays brought colour to the forest like I wouldnt have imagined. / The forest is very much still in green, but the backlighting from the sunset has given such warmth to the leaves. As it was so late in the day, this is a 1 second exposure. other photos from the forests around my home / / Loki’s Forest

  • 12×18 pastel on Wallis sanded paper This is the first of a series I plan to do on the elemental wind spirits of the four directions. The Wind of the East is the wind of rebirth and of Spring. Our ancient ancestors always knew what direction they were facing and connected with the spirits of all directions. By connecting with these ancient spirits too we can begin to feel connected to the Oneness of all that is. Face the East and feel Spring’s soft wind blowing through you, connecting you to your beginning and releasing you of all you no longer need. Also from the series: /

  • 12×18 pastel on sanded Wallis paper FEATURED IN “FEMININE INTENT”, “YOU’RE ACCEPTED”, “STRICTLY HUMAN FACES”, “CONTEMPORARY PASTEL PAINTERS”, “THE LOVE OF EERIE AND ENCHANTING ARTWORK”, AND “THE PATCHWORK” This is the second in an Elemental series I am working on. The Spirit of the South Wind brings in warmth and sensuality. She is the wind of summertime. Smell the scent of flowers from a thousand summer meadows. She is also the wind of marriage, love, and maturity. Anything in your life that you wish to grow and prosper should be given to the South wind so that she can caress it into being. Here is a link to / Summertime / by Miss Janis Joplin (to get you in the mood for summer winds) Also from the series: /

  • 9×12 pastel on Sennellier la carte paper Since I did a Guinevere Empress, I had to of course do a Morgan Le Fay High Priestess! / Morgan Le Fay is a very popular figure today, and yet she is rather obscure in Literature. Originally written about as a great healer and shamaness. In later literature she became a rather wicked enchantress who of course had a hand in the destruction of Camelot. / She is the half-sister of King Arthur, and thought to be half faery. Although many are unsure if the Fay in her names actually means Faery or comes from the Latin Fata (which means fate). / She is also guessed to have evolved from the earlier Morrigan triple goddess. This is what gives her her “dark goddess” connection. Morgan Le Fay was the High Priestess of the mystical island of Avalon. Avalon represents the Underworld, or Otherworld. The dark goddess often rules over the Otherworld, for it represents our sub-conscious mind. It is the place we ignore, but is always there with us. It is like our shadow-self. When we journey beyond the veil into the darkness, we bring back great wisdom and evolve into greater spiritual beings more aware of our true nature. / This was the job of the high priestess in ancient times. She journeyed to the Otherworld and came back with the messages for the people from the Goddess. The High Priestess represents our Intuition and our ability to journey into the realm of the Otherworld to bring back “the Law”, or the wisdom of our shadow-self. / The apple is a stong symbol of Avalon. Often the pomegrante is pictured on High Priestess cards, and the apple holds the same symbolism here. It is the mystical fruit of the Otherworld that we seek in order to gain wisdom. / Morgan Le Fay also has a strong connection to water, as water also represents the feminine consciousness and the sub-conscious realm.
