  • Airbrushed and mixed media My Work Was Featured In Fantasy Art / (Thanks Everyone) Read the Collaboration of Written Work by Tony Hedger Part 2 of 2 / The way to get there is many in choice, / But a good first step is the inner voice. / By air, or water, by earth or fire, / Fairyland is your hearts desire. There you are free, all you can be, / And everything is real. / You could sit for a while, / Upon a sundial, / And chase the rays of the light, / You could float on the air, / Without any care, / Or fly with butterfly wings. / Buzz with the bees, and fly through the trees, / Float down with the falling leaves. You could go on a boat, / Through sparkling waters, / Made out of the shell of a tortoise. / Sit in the ring where the fairies all sing, / Drink, dance, fairy fling. / Diddle on the fiddle, play fairy in the middle, / Sparkle, shine, drink buttercup wine. / T’is close, you must believe, / Just follow the voice from within. • The Green Fairy ( La Fee Verte) / Now available in Print and Poster size. The Green fairy was source of artistic inspiration and enlightenment to the likes of Picasso, Oscar Wilde, Lautrec, Crowley, Van Gogh and Poe. The effects of the Green Fairy were probably best summed up by Oscar Wilde: “The first stage is like ordinary drinking, the second when you begin to see monstrous and cruel things, but if you can persevere you will enter in upon the third stage where you see things that you want to see, wonderful curious things.” “Absinthe has a wonderful colour, green. A glass of absinthe is as poetical as anything in the world. What difference is there between a glass of absinthe and a sunset?”—Wilde / In the early 1900’s a series of Children’s books featuring the green fairy were pulished. / Also Available in Card format click card to see more details

She quickly put on the dress and went to the festival….read more This is my artistic depiction of the Grimm Brother’s Cinderella. • Featured in 1 in the Begining Ancient Practices and Painters in Modern Times groups Acrylic on 14×18 canvas Doppelganger – n – (German) a ghostly counterpart of a person; a ghostly double of a living person. In mythology – a doppelganger is a harbinger of death for it’s real life counterpart if seen. This is a theme that has been showing up for me so many times recently that I had to put it into a painting! (Gotta love synchronicity!) Let’s see, I was reading the Rachel Morgan series by Kim Harrison. In one of the books, a ‘doppelganger spell’ is used which transforms one person into an identical version of the spell caster. (Some say a spell can create a doppelganger, or identical twin, out of thin air.) I picked up another series by Marie Brennan called The Doppelganger Series. (Warrior & Witch) In this series, when an infant witch is born, a ritual is performed to create the channel for magic. In doing so, a doppelganger is created. This doppelganger does not have the channel for magic and is traditionally killed until one who survived finds a way to rejoin the two halves of the person. (Both series are GREAT, I highly recommend them!) Then, I went with a friend last month to go see LUDO in concert! (Incredible band – amazing show!) The band, The Graduate, opened for them. I had never heard this band before, but was instantly hooked when they started playing! They are a rock band with an added ambient sound. I couldn’t help but dance! They played this one song that started out being about 6 minutes of instrumental sounds, then the lyrics came. I was totally rocking out! LOL I turned to my friend and told her: “I HAVE to get this CD! I could totally paint to this sound!” So, when I got home, I downloaded their CD, Anhedonia. (GREAT CD!) The song they played live that I loved so much is actually two songs on the album. The instrumental piece is Interlude and the part with lyrics is, of course, Doppelganger! (You can hear them in order on my profile!) “My dreams haunt me in my sleep / They stay hidden inside of me / Very deep so I’ll be sure to stay / I’ve got direction in my craze / To keep trying for another day / Who needs perception anyway Three long weeks I stayed in the room / Waiting for the man to show me something new / Staring through the glass / It was crystal clear / But the stranger just cried, ahh / So late one night with my head in a blaze / I said to the man in the sorry state / Love is for the lucky / You know what they want / Or maybe love’s best left to who cares less” Seems to me that in The Graduate’s song, he’s fighting with his reflection, or doppelganger, about several of life’s lessons. So, I started forming these ideas in my head of what my doppelganger piece would look like. The sound of the music really inspired the colors and movement of my piece, but it was the books I read that launched my overall theme. A faerie comes out at night to create a doppelganger spell in order to be in two places at once; in the faerie realm, and in the mortal realm. She hangs two Will-o-the-Wisps on either side of her tree in order to gain some light for both herself and her newly created doppelganger. She conjures her magic in her hands and it swirls into the trees and the air around her as her spell takes form and her doppelganger is created! But which is the real faerie, and which is purely magic?! You decide…. Doppelganger Lyrics / Doppelganger Video

  • Acrylic on 11×14 canvas board Springtime is my favorite season, I just love all of the new growth and color that pops up! I’ve seen Spring in many places, but I have to say, Springtime in Oregon is absolutely stunning! On my drive home from work the other day, I noticed that there are Cherry Blossoms and what I think are a type of Japanese Maples blooming EVERYWHERE!! Some are bright pink, some are pale pink, some are a vibrant purple! These new colors really stood out and stuck in my head. Originally, I saw this painting as having the deep green background, that you see, with shades of purples for the leaves…..I wanted more of a wine or grape feel. But….I encountered a slight problem. The royal purple that I wanted to lay down first would not show up on the deep green in the background! I was rather frustrated, so I went back to the original inspiration and mixed up some pink. Once I started laying down the pink, I thought to myself: “Oh dear, this is WAY too bright!” Needless to say, my spirits were crushed a little when things weren’t working as planned. But…I trusted my Muse and let her guide me through this. Once I was done with the pink, I went back in with some purple…YAY for the bright pink letting it show up this time! Then came the trunk and branches, followed by the highlites. Of course, my troubles couldn’t be over! I was stuck! I couldn’t decide how to finish off the piece! What final color would tie everything together? Would there be a home for a faerie in this one?! So, I went back to the source of inspiration for this series – the music! The music that was playing during this painting was from Faerie Radio again. (Really, go listen!! FaerieRadio) Songs by Australian artist, Louisa John Krol were playing much more frequently than any other artist on the playlist. I took this as a sign and went to her myspace page to hear more. I was a little bummed at first that she only had one song available to play, and it wasn’t one that I had heard. But, I clicked play anyway and everything fell into place! “Come blackbird and take my soul away / You won’t keep your vagabond at bay! / Your fortress hangs heavy in the tree: / Come blackbird and take the soul of me away…. / Who will listen into your lore? / Will the echo follow your call? / Who will listen while you’re waiting by the wooden door? “ / Louisa John-Krol So, I went back to the canvas and added in the Faerie. She’s waiting, by the wooden door, ready for the blackbird to come. She doesn’t want to be forgotten when she’s gone so she blows some of her magick into the wind… UPDATE / I took the original with me to my very first art show….it was the only painting that sold that night! YAY! It now belongs to a very fun and lovely 16 year old girl! Thanks! Available as a T-Shirt HERE

  • Sometimes the little forest creatures are sick and this is where the faeries are at their best. They know every little secret, potion or magic spell to make them all better again! Mummy mouse is very worried but everything is going to be okay soon. The ladybug is there as well but very little people see it which is the whole idea, of course. They always are around if someone needs a babysitter. The story must be very exciting! Remember, if you ever get sick or wounded in a forest, the little faeries will take care of you when they find you (they always do).

  • This is an old image from 2007. / It’s a self portrait taken indoors with studio lighting and then I had a stock image of a forest I composed onto the background. It was done so long ago I don’t have the information on where I got the forest stock, so I can’t credit it. But it was a moderately used texture which doesn’t dominate the piece. • The little Star Fairy is very busy illuminating the park to create the magic of Christmas. Darkness comes very early in the winter, but the beautiful glittering trees will light up the night and will make the children’s eyes sparkle with joy and wonder. I uploaded the first version of this file quite late at night and did not notice until the following morning that I had uploaded the wrong version with the cloning out of the electric wires still obvious and the concrete texture too strong. I thought that I might as well fix a few things at the same time, so this one is in fact a rework of what I have uploaded last night, on December 19. During my recent midnight walk in the park, I set my camera on a tripod and made two shots of the illuminated trees around which unfolds the circular skating rink. One in focus and the other completely out of focus for the bokeh. In Photoshop, I combined the two images in overlay, adding a few adjustment layers, several sparkle and glitter brushes and a stock image of a child. I omitted the concrete texture in this version, but added a very thin overall veil of light and a little blur to add softness. Brushes from here , here and here / Little girl Here are the two photos I made of the park, in and out of focus (Parc de la Promenade, Candiac, Quebec, Canada) / /
