On December the 1st 2008, Venus, Jupiter and the Crescent Moon came together and formed a unique shape in the sky – a smiley face! This image was captured at Green Point, overlooking Brisbane Water, on the Central Coast of NSW, Australia. Taken with a Canon 350D and Sigma 17-70mm lens. This image was chosen as 1 of the top 10 great astrophotos of 2008 by Sky&Telescope magazine. This image was featured on Astronomy Picture of the Day, 5th December 2008.
