  • In constructing a new baseball stadium for the New York Yankees, the city and state of New York gave lots of money to developers and let them tear through parks and playgrounds in order to build parking lots and parking garages. Why are tax dollars used to eliminate public spaces? It’s a shame when people prefer parking to parks. Sculpture built with thousands of LEGO bricks by artist Sean Kenney.

  • I return from work after dark, / praying there’s something left of my car. / I pay my fee and pass the pillars, / hoping, waiting, searching the vehicles. There it is, my shining light, / my chariot, my steed, my route to flight. / I mount, we march, we leave behind / the city, the speed, the pain, our mind. Once again, we’re free, we’re gone, / we’re out, we’ve left, we’re going home. :) Shot at Manchester Aquatic Centre Concrete Underground Car Parking Facility at Night

  • The Attica Correctional Facility is a maximum-security prison located in Attica, New York, a small town located midway between Buffalo and Rochester. “It held many of the most dangerous criminals of the time when it was constructed in the 1930s. A tear gas system is installed in the mess hall and industry areas and has been used to quell conflicts in these areas. / Attica was the site of a prison riot in 1971 which resulted in 39 deaths, of which 29 were inmates and 10 were correctional officers held hostage. They died by gunfire from state troopers and guards.” “John Lennon’s assassin, Mark David Chapman, is currently imprisoned in Attica.”

  • This image was taken on the Berry College campus in Rome, Georgia. The Berry campus is the largest campus in the world at nearly 30,000 acres. It consists of fields and forest and mountains lands which have designated portions open to the public for hiking, cycling, horse back riding, and other outdoor activities. The large deer population is reputed to outnumber the students by eight to one! About half the campus is a wildlife refuge where no hunting is allowed. The other half (almost 16,000 acres) is managed by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources where hunts are managed in an attempt to control the deer population and provide recreational opportunities within department regulations. With a permit fishing is allowed on some of the campus lakes and streams. Other wildlife often seen on campus are wild turkeys, seasonal ducks and geese, skunks, and squirrels. • A bright October day on Lawrencetown Beach, Nova Scotia. The brisk Atlantic wind blows my partner along while I sit sheltered by a sand dune! / If you visit Nova Scotia and want to spend a day or just a hike (or surfing) at this beach, start at Dartmouth and drive east on # 7 highway until you get to Ross Road, turn right and follow the road to the end, turn left onto Highway 207 and follow it along the Atlantic coast until you reach the Beach. There’s another very nice one just adjacent, there are facilities and a canteen in the summer, and you’ll enjoy your day hike. / Sony DSCF828 camera. Featured in “Going Coastal(4Art per Day)”

  • In South Australia’s mid-north there are many towns whithering away. Railway stations slowly decay, while the lines are no longer in use. Once centres for the surrounding farmlands, they are now bypassed for the larger regional centres and cities. / The only thing that passes through here now is the breeze, as it blows through the weeds and native flowers, now permanent features of a once proud railway station and platform. / Traditional in many country “mens facilities” is the open air urinals … bad luck if its raining when you need to go. Famous for its role in relaying Apollo 11 telemetry and television pictures from the Moon on 21st July, 1969 – the movie “The Dish” was loosely based on that involvement – it has more recently assisted with Voyager 2 at Uranus (January, 1986) and Neptune (August, 1989), Giotto at Comet Halley (March, 1986) and Galileo at Jupiter (most of 1997).
