From Bayon, one of the many Khmer temples at Cambodias Angkor, dating back to the 13th century. Theres some 200 or so of these faces at this temple. It’s believed the faces are of the king Jayavarman VII, incarnate as the bodhisattva Avalokitesvara. Regardless, it’s a moving, eerie place, where serene, smiling faces are watching you at every angle.

Faces of India represents the work of John Mitchell, with all portraits being taken in natural light. Most photos are street-style photography, and very few of the people posed. I just took a quick snapshot if their faces had character.

Lighter moments from Waari. Taken last year against the overcast conditions in relatively low light. RAW file was processed in Adobe Camera Raw & converted to 5 TIFF format files with (+/-) 0, 0.5 & 1.0 exposure values and taken in Photomatrix for HDR conversion. Finally balanced in PS with multiple layer processing. Equipment : Canon EOS 400D, Canon 70 – 300 mm lens @ 300 mm. Av – F5.6, Tv – 1/40 Sec. ISO 200.
