  • Sometimes the world feels far away and we are locked inside our own sphere, seeing life through a distortion of our ideas. Painted in Spring 2007 the original art is on 20” x 16” stretched canvas. Visit my website Click here

  • Shadows of a Memory explores the pain that is associated with mental, physical and even sexual abuse. All of us experience an aspect of this pain at some level. We all tend to hide it and many of us never confront the cause. © 2007. Comments welcome. Limited edition (10) archival prints are available from my web site: DAViD M. ALLeN This image was created using Poser, LightWave 3D and Photoshop. It combines both 3D rendered models, my own photos (6) and one photo that I have permission to use (butterflies and flowers © Sandra Torregrosa-Allen). The background texture is made of 4 different layered photos (close up images of natural textures). Text was handwritten within Photoshop using a 6×9 Intuos 2 tablet.

  • Acrylic on canvas, 16×20 inches. This painting is actually a late stage extension of my childhood sexual abuse painting series. The image came to me during a meditation at a time when I began to retreat back into myself and away from others. Until then I had been trying to shed my isolationist tendencies. The face is mine, distorted but still distinct. The ribbons could be viewed as something coming untied or undone, but they are still quite elegant when moving in the winds of change swirling around. The “No Parking” sign signifies that I wasn’t letting anyone stop and stay any longer. Unfortunately, childhood sexual abuse has long and lingering effects. My hardest to overcome stigma is my tendency to isolate myself from others both emotionally and physically. If interested, you can see the entire abuse series at http://www.gjefle-art.com/abuse/abuse-index.htm You can also see this paintings “sister” piece here on Redbubble. / / ~

  • pencil on paper (Stonehenge) drawing This was one of those experimental drawings – drawing on top of another drawing… At the time I was thinking of that expression of seeing the world through rose colored glasses and I wondered what the world would look like through fairie colored ones… This drawing has been exhibited widely. It’s been to New York twice. It went into the heart of Ivy League USA by being selected into the Cambridge Art Association’s exhibition a few years ago – it showed alongside some very minimal abstract furry cubes. (love that juxtaposition) ALSO available in my Clothing section: / The archival matted and framed original is for sale. Email me if interested.

  • digital blending of two of my pencil drawings – aWay and Atypia / These two just seemed to want to go together.

  • So this is bits and pieces of a number of things. First, the face is from my drawing “Sudden Departure” except I added some embellishing. The background is actually a lavender and gold forest I, gulp, painted – (i rarely go there). Of course, for this version I turned it DARK. / The “wings” are two little silk leaves I had here. Richard Bone, the wonderful ambient artist/composer inspired this as he used my drawing for an album cover last year. He needed something dark for the inside of the cd, so I obliged…

  • So THIS is what she looks like when she sits up straight. / (grin) And who says I don’t like color? / (Well, in little bits. I actually love color. I’m just terrified of it.) Here is a joining of two of my pencil drawings with embellishments. (both are featured within my RedBubble portfolio)

  • This piece uses the background from my pencil drawing “Candescence Part II”, the face from “True North”, leaves from “passage”, berries from “Access”. All of these drawings are shown in full within my RedBubble portfolio. And a T design in my Clothing section: /

  • From my pencil drawing of the same name, just a closer view… /

  • Another variation on a theme using some of my pencil drawing of the same name (minus the “Turned Solar” part)... AND, this mug at Zazzle: /

  • From my pencil drawing, “Least Resistance”, I borrowed her face, then flipped her so I could finally end all this duality. / (ha ha ha!) A RedBubble exclusive image…

  • This is a sister piece to the other Mon Ange pieces that began with the original pencil drawing… (Ordered as the standard matted print option and popped in a ready made frame)

  • digital photographic composite made in photoshop

  • Starting with one of the faces in my pencil drawing Least Resistance / and giving him some of the wood from my other pencil drawing / Messenger / comes this RedBubble exclusive image. I was actually surprised by his expression. I’ve never turned him upright before. He’s always been a bit of a forgotten image as part of the trio in the original drawing. Tonight, this drawing is dedicated to a friend of mine, who, at this hour, appears to be lost in the woods… /

  • I fell in love with this little baby face the first time I saw it. I actually think it was a model for a Gap ad! I am not certain any longer, but anyway, I loved this little face so much that I had to draw it twice. First in Eleventh Hour / and then a few years later in / Four Moons I am happy to report that the two drawings were purchased a few years apart from each other BY THE SAME COLLECTOR. They felt the same way that I did and wanted both of them. For my RedBubble exclusive, Blue Moon, I isolated the face and dropped it into a heavily messed with tiny stock shot. I wanted him/her to appear as if floating – or encapsulated – or surprised to find themselves in the environment they’re in, or… I don’t really know how to explain, that’s why I made this image which suits my inner eye nicely. Hope you like my baby. xo… / >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

  • Time is a man-made but we will always be governed by nature’s schedule. Created in Photoshop using photographic elements mixed with Photoshop-generated shapes and textures. / And according to the clock almost seven hours had past from start to finish. / Criticism always welcome.

  • I got Jamie to model for me for this mad manipulation. You can decide if it’s surreal fun or surreal creepy…or just surreal wierd. All my own photos, my own textures, my own husband and my own eye used. :) I like it!
