  • Surrealistic Digital Art / / “Let there be light” is an English translation of the Hebrew יְהִי אוֹר (yehiy ‘or). Other translations of the same phrase include the Latin phrase fiat lux, and the Greek phrase γενηθήτω φώς (or genēthētō phōs). The phrase is often used for its metaphorical meaning of dispelling ignorance. The phrase comes from the third verse of the book of Genesis in the King James Bible: 1:1 – In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. / 1:2 – And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. / 1:3 – And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. / 1:4 – And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. / / / / Pair with… / / / / / MCN: CCB37-A1E56-16AAA / / © Imber 2007. • ©2007-2008 Aimee Stewart, Foxfires – please see my CC Terms of Use before considering using this image for any personal or commercial use http://foxfires.deviantart.com/journal/15905899/ / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- There are so many familiar sayings out there about ‘Time’ as we know it. Time heals all wounds. Time flies when you’re having fun. Time stands still. Time waits for no one. If I could turn back the hands of Time. Frozen in Time. Timeless…. you get the idea. Well, I wanted to create a series that perhaps captured the essence of these things, in relation to human emotion. And so my Time series was born. I know in my heart what each of them means, but I did not name them anything specific, so that the viewer could make up their own mind as to the meaning of each piece. I think that is something unique to every individual. So…my heartfelt thanks for continuing to watch and support my artistic endeavors. It feeds the fire that burns and inspires. / Aimee

  • In many cultures the death masked played a critical role in funeral ceremonies. The soul is indeed complex and made up of many parts, yet flows like the wind. This is a hand illustrated highly complex image of a possible death mask.
