19 February, 2008 It all started with a TV screen shot. I got then inspired to start a series of compositions called The colours of love. This artwork is the first in this series. Taken in Tunga/Zuga Village .remote Nigeria. Rebecca is 13 years old and is orphaned. Her Grandmother was looking after her, but she now is dead also. Rebecca rarely speaks but loves to sing songs she learned from passing missionaries. She works in her grandmothers small garden. Her Grandmothers house is almost falling down. The villagers are very loving toward her, but Food is scare here. Please pray and help us to help children like Rebecca. This is Violet aged 15 years old. She works in the fields from sunrise to sunset. Her Parents are dead. Violet works the small plot of land hoping to grow enough food for herself, her three younger brothers and sick Grandfather. she has a disability caused by Rickets, a disease that is common here. Her upper and lower limbs are bowed outwards. Yet Violet must force herself to work, or her dependants will starve. Please help us to help her and many more like her. This poem was beautifully written by a very talented poet and Writer called Adgray. God Bless you for wring this fitting piece . Does she dream of dancing and movies and fun / this girl with the faraway eyes / Has she the wish to kiss Brad Pit / Did she cry when Heath Ledger died? / What does she wish for when Christmas comes? / an ipod or mobile phone? / Does she complain there’s no chocolate again / in the fridge when she gets home. We complain we don’t have enough to survive / Money to cover our bills / and purchase the service and goods we desire / AND the luxury home in the hills / But where does it say life must be this way / That we have and she has not / That our world be of greed luxury and games / and hers of pain and hard lot. I look in the depths of these faraway eyes / and I think of my own teenage life / How I struggled with that I was expected to do / and rebelliously got into strife / I look at my own daughter of fifteen years / And know how I fiercely protect her / I support all her learnings and all her dreams / and use all my wisdom to guide her. But they are similar these girls far apart / for my daughter also cares for her home / She looks out for her younger siblings as well / and is rarely allowed to roam. And I wonder if having is really a curse / for to have not enough creates stress / equal to that of not enough food / but granted the consequence is less I shall show all my children these faraway eyes / for this girl is also one of their peers / their ages are similar their wants must compare / how I long to abate all her tears / I cannot succeed in my western world life / I struggle myself to survive / But oh how I wish I could lavish life’s gifts / On those beckoning faraway eyes. I will never forget taking this photograph, as I was standing waiting for the ferry to come. Anyone who has been to rural Africa will know that things runs on African time. That’s why I call them Last minute.com. After three hours, these two guys came to me and said the ferry Had broke down on the other side, and that they would take me accross. So I got in, with all my camera equipment and a very wet Interpreter, who fell into the water. / One the way accross I suddenly realised that the large boat coming straight towards us was the Ferry. It was so funny. The fishermen refused to take any payment, as they said it would bring good fortune to the, as they had a white man in their boat. they both recieved Jesus as Lord and Saviour. Alfred is a young boy who has and does inspire me to raise awareness and raise funds and tools to help these extreme poor in Africa. We do this through Philadelphia Mission a British Registered Charity. Alfred was found in Tunga/Zuga village by one of our Evangelist Staff members. He was very ill and had his leg amputated to save his life. He was taken by our staff member and cared for. This is Grace and she lives in Tunga/Zuga Village, deep in remote Nigeria. In December 2007, I uploaded Her Photographs and since then many people in Redbubble have been touched by her Beauty and illness. Through the kindness of some here on redbubble, We were able to purchase medicines to save her life. grace was dying from intestinal worms. This is because the village has no clean water. I spoke to our Volunteer worker today who is staying in the village, and he has informed me that Grace is now making a great recovery. Praise God. There are many Like Grace who die each year in agony. We are making a difference. Please pray and help us reach many more like grace. We need your gifts. It many be money, Skills, Talent, Prayer or simply sharing our work with others. Thank you to all of you who have donated and prayed for little Grace. She is now in good health and has made a great recovery. Praise God, I am so happy right now. Grace and other children who suffer so much Inspires me to work 12-14 hours per day sharing their plight with others and fund-raising.. I have not had the good fortune of ever having a salary for what I do. but God rewards me in many other ways. To see a child tat would have died now live and smile is wonderful. To empower the poor with more than just hope is what I live and work for. In Tunga/Zuga village, a remote village in Kebbe state Nigeria, there are so many children who are without ANY source of help. The village has no source of clean water, since their well collapsed in 2006. Intestinal worm infections, river Blindness, Chronic Diarrhoea, Malnutrition and other preventable diseases are killing and disabling many. We are making a difference and with your Prayers, Donations and support we can not only save their lives, refurbish the old school adn give them education. If it had not been for your prayers and donations for Grace, she would certainly have died. I am deeply thankful to you all. She died on Monday Monday 6th July at 4.35am. our Medical officer [pastor Joshua] and his wife our senior nurse were with her. We just did not have the money to pay for her hospital treatment. Although we pleaded with the hospital Senior medical team, they said they needed $1800 to cover the operation and after-care. Thank you to everyone who was praying for Anna. She is now at peace with our Lord. Please pray for Joan and Samuel, her parents. This was their last born child. PLEASE TAKE A FEW MINUTES TO READ THIS. I am an Irish artist and missionary working with extreme poor in Africa and India. In this one camp 52 children suffer from Intestinal worm infection, and the death rate is very high. This is due to lack of clean water. The is Akuti, an Indian gypsy girl aged 11 years. Her name means ‘Princess’ and she really is a Gypsy princess. But she, like almost all of her people, the Nara_Kar-Avars (gypsy children), are treated with contempt and rejection, and denied even the basics of life. To be born a Gypsy under Hindu religion is to be born into the lowest of the lowest casts. / Known as Outcasts and treated as Untouchables, Akuti and many millions like her face a life with little hope. / She has never gone to school, as her parents barely earn enough to feed her, and cannot afford the £70-$130 per year they need for school fees, uniform and text books. My passion and mission in life is not just to pray and preach to these precious people, but to provide clothing, and the cost of school fees, medical care, and provide tools to help them earn or make a living. / The Philadelphia Mission is a small underfunded, yet effective British charity doing just that in India and Africa. But thanks to The Calvary Church who donated a Communications system, our missionary Pastor Jonathan called me. / The First thing he shouted was Grace is now completely well!. / Grace was very ill and would have certainly died, if it was not for some of you here on Redbubble who donated money for Medicines and continued treatment. God Bless you for your genuine Love and your giving. I am a missionary and was born in Northern Ireland and now live in London. My passion and inspiration to work and help these precious poor is born from my personal relationship with God. his love and mercy changed my life completely in 1986. 50 of the 64 children from this village have never gone to school. Mary is 12 years old and she cares for her younger brother. She never has gone to school like most in Tunga/Zuga village. I called this photograph “what If”. What if someone paid the £70 -$120. per year for her school fees, uniform and text books?. What if someone wanted to give Mary a future where she could learn to read, write, and what if Mary learned skills that would earn her money and she could help her younger brother also to go to school? / What if Mary had the change to be what she wants to be, a Nurse?
