Portsmouth lifted the FA Cup for the f…

Portsmouth lifted the FA Cup for the first time since 1939 after Kanu proved to be their hero once again in a 1-0 win over Cardiff at Wembley. / The gangly Nigerian striker scored the goal which earned Pompey a 1-0 win over West Brom in the semi-final – and he pounced after 37 minutes of Saturday’s final with the Bluebirds, stabbing home from close range after Peter Enckelman had spilled a right-wing cross from John Utaka. / Kanu also wasted the game’s other clear-cut chance on 22 when he rounded Enckelman and Glenn Loovens before hitting the upright from a tight angle. / And it was defender Loovens who went closest to an equaliser for Dave Jones’ troops, chipping the ball into the net on 45 only to see referee Mike Dean rule the goal out for a handball offence. / Robbie Fowler was not even named in Cardiff’s squad as Sulley Muntari had the first chance of the game, seeing his 30-yard deflected strike saved. / Paul Parry was denied by David James’ interception as Cardiff responded, and the England keeper blocked Parry’s shot minutes later before Kevin McNaughton saw a deflected strike trickle inches wide of the upright. / Muntari then set up Kanu on 22 minutes but he lost his composure after brilliantly beating Loovens and Enckelman, sidefooting a left-footed shot against the upright with the goal at his mercy. / Peter Whittingham’s free-kick found Roger Johnson as Cardiff more than held their own, but his header flew inches over the crossbar with James beaten. / Kanu then found the net from four yards out after Utaka’s cross was spilled, and Pompey took their narrow lead into the interval. / After the break, Lassana Diarra’s charging run set up Kanu, whose goalbound shot was deflected for a corner by Loovens on 53. / Muntari let fly from 30 yards but his thunderbolt rose just over the bar, and sub David Nugent stung Enckelman’s hands with an angled 18-yard drive on 71. / Jones sent on Steve Thompson for Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink but it was Joe Ledley who went closest, firing a 25-yard effort over the crossbar. / Kanu was replaced by Milan Baros on 87, leaving the pitch to a standing ovation. And the Pompey fans were cheering once again at the final whistle, as they celebrated Wembley glory and securing a UEFA Cup place. Report taken from www.sportinglife.com

  • ALONG THE HIGHWAY - TEN YEARS AND A CENTURY AGO (Lungo l'autostrada, dieci anni e un secolo fa)

Songs have a life and a nature of dictator – they oblige you to remembrance, they slam it on your face without modesty and so you see and feel and also smell the colour and the odour of that notes, in that day, a day which has ever more or less ten years and a century on its shoulders. / And today it happens to me to sense again – wonderful bastard – a song which has still now the taste of that highway, windy and made of salt (the one which reaches a beach). / There was that cliched italian sun and the skin of fever and a man i don’t forget (but I lost his voice). / Everything still to live. And it’s out of focus but in that moment i thought a poetic fear – / if (for a mistake) / i cut my life line / on my hand’s palm / will I die young? / Oh please, don’t / not today (it’s perfect) “Baby baby baby light my way” sang the radio. The palm’s lines are still intact – / so will i die old? And the truth is that / that song / doesn’t end / never. / Oddio no, non oggi, oggi è perfetto. “Baby baby baby light my way”, cantava la strofa. Poi infine la mie linee non son state tagliate - / morirò dunque vecchia? E la verità è / che / quella canzone / non è mai / finita.

UPDATE: Blas Reynoso exhibit live! See reception time below. Thanks for supporting this artist. You have just a few more hours to view the Solo Exhibiton of Ed Kinnally, which has been running since Monday in the “Featured” section of the gallery. Ed’s fractal sculptures are in a class of their own. His reception gallery is still open for comments, as well. At the strike of midnight, tonight, Eastern Daylight Time, I present to you Blas Reynoso. He’s all yours for the weekend! Friday – Sunday, August 14-16, 2009 Blas Reynoso, known on art sites like Red Bubble as genaro1, is a photographer whose images are surprisingly easy to spot in a group of thousands, as we have in the Solo Exhibition gallery. They have a relaxing quality about them. You feel as if invited to a friend’s home in the mountains—a respite. You don boots eagerly to go on a nature walk and breath in fresh air, gander at the skies, maybe go spelunking. You feel like a carefree kid. Always at peace in the places Blas leads you, you will go away from his Solo Exhibition thanking this photographer for the overwhelming feeling of renewal and relaxation that you take away. Blas travels with his photography; but I have selected many images of New Mexico, in the American SouthWest for his Solo show. Please join me Friday evening in the U.S. or Saturday Morning early in Paris, or Saturday for coffee in Australia for an artist reception honoring Blas Reynoso, genaro1, who will be on hand for a couple of hours. • Just passing by and, well it said New York Christmas to me! Happy Holidays All. Nancy

  • This is my Sweetpea. One of my three bunnies. He came to us several Christmases ago. He was at a local pet shop where they also have pets from the Humane Society. He looked so sad and scared when I saw him the day before Christmas. So my (adult) son and I decided to give him a forever home. After we got all the paperwork and approval he came home the day after Christmas. Turns out we were his FIFTH home in his first 9 months. I have no idea why. he’s a large and lovely bunny. He and his mate Star, have their own room and are quite content. I took a LOT of photos of my bunnies which can be seen here Hope he brings a smile to your face too!
