I was walking down a fire-track in the Adelaide hills late this afternoon when I spotted a shallow creek coming from a concrete pipe. Lo and behold, this was floating in the shallow water. Most amazingly, whilst I had one leg on either side of the creek trying to get low enough to take the shot, a group of ladies walked by with their pram and toddler. The mother offered to take the shot of me attempting to get out of the creek! A lone pelican standing in the shallow waters north of the Kingscote Pier. He was a good guy, he walked right up to me … within 10metres. Both of us enjoyed our time, but I really enjoyed capturing these photographs! Yes, this has been manipulated to reveal the details of the beak and blow-out the background. This beautiful Pelican landed right in front of me while I was photographing the beach and ocean. Seems he wanted me to capture his good side. Every time I swung the zoomlens in his direction, he made sure to face the way he wanted. Must have spent over an hour here, because shot about 150 photographs!
