I’m particularly proud of this one. For the fight series, I used a highschool friend. He let me pick the place, clothes, girl to fight with… I loved the way they turned out. Exactly what I envsioned.

Fridays are “family night” and generally the kids play outside but it was raining so my niece was watching the rain fall. I said her name and when she looked I took this photo. So that’s the story behind the title. :)

meet our new little friend bubbles (daughter choose name) – a lovely little baby red eyed green tree frog. still trying to get a good shot of her/his mate freddo, but he is v. shy… trying out my new kenko macro tubes with 50mm 1.4 nikkor lens ISO:400 / f/stop: f/4.5 / shutter speed: 1/80 these little guys are v. tiny – not much bigger than my finger nail…

The original looked very ordinary but just trying Auto Levels in photoshop CS2 produced that intense blue and I cropped to get this composition. Otherwise, as is. Taken at King’s Park (nr Mount Eliza House), Perth, Western Australia on a wildflower photography course. / Sorry I don’t know the name of these flowers but they are real for those who doubt. I was shooting up from the ground into the sky. It was this cloudless though not quite as blue. nikon D700, macro 105mm macro lens, f/32, 1/250th, -.3 step. ISO probably 200. / / / original pencil drawing ...stayed up very late drawing “Nature’s Child”... you know when it’s time for a baby to be born, i think it’s very similar with art… the inspiration just comes when it’s ready…and sometimes that means drawing til 3am like i did with this one. ...the drawing took about 3 hours, and the digital colouring took about 5 hours today. ...inspired by some fantastic eyes i’ve seen lately, (drawn by people on RB) and the dear little willy wagtails…they are so cheeky…they aren’t authentic in colour here, because they are always black and white with little markings above the eye…but i have put their essence into the work hopefully. I think this is my favourite so far :) /

Colour pencil, graphite and pastel on paper. 19×25 cm. It’s been hard finding personal drawing time of late. She has been ‘in the making’ for about 5 weeks. It feels nice to have a piece finished. Hope to start a new one today.
