Still trying to improve my portrait work. I picked Milan (my nine year old son) as my subject and he was all up for posing for the camera! The room was dark and Milan sat up high. The sun shone in through the french doors and I just had him move partially into the light. He was determined to do a good job, shown by the look in his eye and the set of his jaw.

Tenderness and lightness

Colour pencil, graphite and pastel on paper. 19×25 cm. It’s been hard finding personal drawing time of late. She has been ‘in the making’ for about 5 weeks. It feels nice to have a piece finished. Hope to start a new one today.

First portrait. I only have one flash and its camera mounted so it required some creative bouncing to get the light I wanted. Critiques are welcome! I am still very new at doing portraits and would love some tips. Cheers
