  • been reading about tribal child raising and the benefits, and we know I like birds… I began this art as abstract patterns, bubbles of pattern that transformed when I realised by putting a ‘fork in the road’ to the concentric circles, that I created an eye and beak. Before that, it could’ve been shown either way up. also, it transformed from earthy brown colours, to a colourful bird. ‘Is it art? ‘my teacher used to always question. He’s not here now. He’s just asking the question still! in my head! I like it-it’s bright, colouful and alive.

  • 120×100 cm on canvas.

  • I took this picture a couple of years ago at the beach of Marina di Grosseto, Tuscany, Italy. / This is a fine example I think of how a fisheye lens can completely change the feeling of an ordinary scene. The subject is simply some surf on the seashore, captured from a distance of not more than a foot. / The original picture is a Fuji Velvia 50 Iso medium format slide. Hope you enjoy it, thanks for dropping by. Paolo

  • Perfect reflection in Morskie Oko lake, the Tatra Mountains, Poland

  • I need a big canvas print of this so I had to reprocess the whole thing. / Firstly, I merged the 6 shots 2 photos at a time, which resulted in flawless merging of the clouds and ‘better’ merging of the waves. After that I still spent about 20 minutes on the waves. You can only see merging traces at 100% zoom on the 70003600 resolution, on the previous one there was merging mistakes everywhere, visible at full view on the 1200700 resolution…so big improvement there. Huge improvement on shadows and highlights too. There’s barely a blown-out highlight or black shadow, where as the previous one had a lot of both. Colour and contrast: This version has much less contrast and it has true colour. All I did was increase the black of yellows and reds with selective colour. minor levels adjustments( too much blows out highlights and blackens the shadows). So overall, a much more natural look. And much more pleasing to look at. I think I’m probably gonna lose fav’s with this version because the colours are less interesting. But I’ll gain fav’s from the people who appreciate a properly exposed and processed nature photo? Strand,Western Cape, South Africa / Canon 18-55mm @ 18mm / 6 vertical shots [][][][][][] / Processing done in CS3 / All rights reserved, this may not be reproduced in any way whatsoever.

  • original is 11”x14” heavy weight smooth art paper and colored pencil. I spent the better part of two days at it but somehow …..when I’m finished I still feel like It’s incomplete…................. I went in and retouched this drawing with black sharpie 12/31/08 Fantasy

  • A series of creepy creatures….......... Too colorful for most and the face forward portraits are the least appealing…..not many people want to hang these because it always feels as if you are being watched ;) I have sold some of these But I’m not hanging any of them myself, in fact my home decorating style is in complete contrast to what I do. It would be a lot cheaper if I would just produce the type of art I typically buy but I seldom feel inspired to do so LOL. Colored pencil on thick smooth art paper 11×14 / & black sharpie. I might have to retake this…........I’m not sure I like the lighting

  • Acryllic + Ink on Canvas 50×60cms Painted specifically for the Mirrors Exhibition ‘09 / “Beauty is not just an image, it’s a feeling” “Mirrors” is a Charity Art Exhibition Benefitting the Butterfly Foundation / Raising much needed funds to support Eating Disorder patients, their families & loved ones, whilst also raising awareness in the wider community. The event also seeks to promote positive Body Image through art… / “Expressing, transforming and clarifying the shades of limelight that frame our body image.” / Currently on at the Mori Gallery in Sydney until October 24, for more event details see here / And read about other bubbers involved here Whilst What If I’m A Mermaid… is an obvious reference to the subject of the painting, it’s also a line from one of my favourite songs by Tori Amos, which is as open to interpretation & woven with different meanings & messages as this painting perhaps is… there are threads in both to which i feel we can all on some level relate. When it came to elaborating on what those messages were or are for the sake of the exhibtion… Well… I wrote one artists statement… followed by another… and then another… and another. Somewhere around 10 i decided to stop… It was not that i was unhappy with a single one of them, quite the opposite, each seemed to inspire another thought, i’d tilt my head & see yet another perspective, many of which weren’t even conscious in my mind whilst painting… / What it made me realise was that more than anything this painting was not so much about me expressing or conveying my thoughts, nor was there a singular message that i want or wanted people to be taken from it… purely & simply it was aimed at inspiring thought in a different circle… & so rather than cloud that thought with words, i decided to let you ponder… “What If I’m A Mermaid…” You can see my painting from last years exhibtion here / As well as the prints i donated of my “Girls of La Mar” series… / Liquid Diamonds / Caught A Lite Breeze / Girl & The Sea More on Mirror’s soon
