One of our cats, Miss Blackie, who really is a princess of the dark She “adopted” us by coming to our backyard and eating from the compost heap…. so we began to feed her. She still is very shy, but comes in the house at night to be fed. So we have made a bit of progress. This image featured in the group Cats and Dogs, one image per day in September 2009. Many thanks!

b&w version per request / original: / This was taken on my parent’s back porch on a Friday evening. Fridays are “family night” and generally the kids play outside but it was raining so my niece was watching the rain fall. I said her name and when she looked I took this photo. So that’s the story behind the title. :)

Taken in marvelous Melbourne. This shot was thirty seconds long and the sculpture in the foreground (Angel by Deborah Halpern) was in deep shadow, after I tripped the shutter I suddenly remembered that I had a torch in my bag so I quickely grabbed it and painted the sculptures legs with my torch beam to help balance the exposure. What you can’t see is that there is a whole top layer of trees that were drawn on the black background and when you look at this from other angles, they are visible – just quietly – like a subtle varnish. This is all about different phases of life borrowing the term of growing to fullness, or “waxing” of the moon. / My name actually means: Of the moon – or lunatic – you pick which fits. hahha!
