Featured in A Vision of Flight This is a blue eyed darner, the largest dragonfly in BC. This image was captured at a wetlands area not far from Campbell River, on Vancouver Island on Canada’s west coast. I used my Nikon D300, with my 200-400 mm lens and 20 mm extension tube to capture this. Recently, I captured a similar image I titled “Dragonfly Flight”. That image was so unique, and so hard to capture, I wondered if I could repeat it. Here is the repeat, a day later, using the same technique with a different lens.
I managed to sneak up on this little guy…lol lol

This one is about as weird as they come in my garden, which is becoming stranger by the day. From the side, it looked like a perfect piece of stick – great camourflage – except it was on a green leaf. The front looked, well, different, but I didn’t realise how different until I looked at it in my computer. It has very owl-like features, a ‘wise’ stare, a wacky hairstyle and a what could almost be a beak. I think it is a water droplet on its eye. My garden is in the far northwest corner of Thailand, and everyone is welcome to visit.
Yes, not the most glamourous of things, but I found this phot interesting when I uploaded from the camera. Photo is “as is”, and was taken in my back yard, on a dead leaf, Noosaville, Queensland. Canon 5D Mk II, 65mm. Available Large if so desired.. hehe!
