Why? Why is she crying? Has she been hurt? Has she been burned by love? Has she been tormented? Or is she the tormentor …
Something a little different! =)

Diligently reading, and literary captured, / As I, with my foot on my book, observe / A soft beauty, that with a polite air, has raptured / My heart, and be graced my pen, for such I will never deserve. Silently with the scent of perfumed air, / And a slight pinch of luscious lips, / Her passionate determinism is more than I can bare. / Subtle tease, her face hidden, as past her face her hair slips. In sensuous contemplation does her finger turn / From thoughtful chin to provocative lip. / To replace such a delicate finger, do my lips yearn / But will not, in knowing the consequences of such a slip. In graceful affirmation of my attention, / She tousles waves of brown hair / And smiles pleasantly, a sign of my detection. / Disheartedly, I smile as tension fills the air. I open my mouth, and my tongue stalls. / She laughs, nervously, and then her eyes lie. / Looking deep into my soul as I fall / Deep into her’s, eye to eye. Robert L. Bixler III

pencil embellished limited-edition print of pencil drawing “Heliotroped” / (The original drawing was done on standard white layout paper – in a spiral bound tablet – I had to draw it twice because as I went I smeared it and had to redefine the lines the second time out.) See if you can find the poem that was tucked into this print and then sent to me anonymously. Update: Aug. 2, 2009 / I finally located the entire poem today. It was on the back of a Klimt postcard given to me at the same time the print was. / Here it is: .......................................................................................................... “When I met her / she lived, / isolated, / on a narrow lane. She had a wrought-iron fence / with a black rose growing through the gate, / locking it. The rose was groomed beautifully. / The gate it seemed had been locked for years. She would say little about the gate. / But she seemed very proud of the rose. / Eventually, she accepted a gift from me. / The gift was a white seed. A white rose now grows, wild and resisting any grooming. Still, she regards the rose with fear and awe.” ..................................................................................................... costume pearls, cut out print of drawing, print, wrapped and archival glued – on 1” thick plywood Last year I participated in a local benefit exhibition where the artists are given 12×12” blank plywood boards and we can embellish them as we desire. I wrapped a portion of one of my prints of my drawing Autumn’s Child/Mon Ange on the board, cut out another one of it to create the “mask” of her – and added fake pearls to looks as if the drawing was popping out of itself and to tie all the elements together. (I was so lucky to go to my magic drawer and discover this long strand in there that were the exact diameter of the drawing’s. They are costume and come from sewing items that were my Grandmother Alvina’s.) Here is a shot taken of it laying flat: / >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Here is what the image looks like on RedBubble products:
My new tattoo, means a lot to me and my family.
This is a night light that I made using a very old drawing of mine “Little Wing Lost”. I cut it into pieces and attached it to a large base I made for it. I then added some branches and a smaller lower box for her chest. I cut out some of my own prints and magazine images and secured them to that. Behind, inside the base, I stuffed it with white lights. Then I wrote over her entire face and neck. My husband was making cookies while I was doing this – watching me – and he said, “Stop writing down everything I’m saying.”, which of course, I was doing and didn’t stop. It took top honors at a regional show a few years ago but now resides in my studio. Here’s a shot of it at the gallery with me next to it for scale. It’s about 5.5 feet high by 2 feet wide. / At night when it’s lit, there is a simple silhouette that shows through the face. (below) / (On the floor – lit – but not dark in the room yet – just showing you her full size) / And in my Clothing section, this T for thee… /
oil on canvas / super fast painting. I would like to consider this more on the abstract expressionism side. I usually paint with more detail and so may I’ll go back at a later time when it drys and add some more depth. myspace.com/artistmind
