Photograph “to see a video of Israel Kamakawiwo’Ole” CLICK This is a photograph I took of my youngest daughter. When my daughters were younger, we used to tell Faery stories at bed time and take turns adding to the story. The stories were very long and often times they would be very revealing, these were happy memories for us so…….. I wanted to capture what one of those characters might have looked like, she was a Tree Faery and her hair was a birds nest, egg included.

Our little red eyed tree frog, Trickster. EDIT: Thank you all – this is not my favorite one but wanted to see how the idea would be received. So, I appreciate all your wonderful comments! This is our pet frog, Trickster. I bought cloud paper at the scrapbook store and purchased an umbrella ornament on eBay. I then hung it from our banana stand (LOL-I know, I know :-) Then I put the frog on it and snapped the shutter. Because the umbrella was hanging truly vertical he didn’t like it and it didn’t look right so in photoshop I rotated the canvas 35 degrees and cloned out the string that would hang the umbrella on the tree. That is about it. Unfortunately, I had to shoot at a higher ISO so I got some noise. Going to re-do this tomorrow with more light – it was pretty cold here and these guys like warm weather so I couldn’t play too much today.

By: DALE CRUM Oh, if humans only knew what trees know. / History has walked--loved-and killed / Around them-under them-and in them / Oh, if we could plug headphones into a knot / Oh, if we could sit in their shade and listen—not talk / Oh, how feeble and foolish is this creature called man / They do whisper in the quiet morning breeze / They do show the brevity of man in autumn / In the transition from life unto death / The glory and splendor of that next life / For in their passing, the leaves become most radiant / They raise their voices in hues of flame and passion / Then sling them to the whim of the winter winds / Burial mounds do gather beneath their feet / Man only sees the toil of the raking / By storm do the trees warn by tapping windows / By beating on roofs / By crashing onto cars / By ripping down the wires of lightening / The trees do not always whisper / Perhaps wisdom would be to listen more closely / That they not be compelled to raise their voices? / DC This one has my own eye in it. I drew the tear in by hand—it was really tricky to make it look real. I created this using only my own original photos. as with my other image when solitude is required… this image was taken near a house i used to live in… / this place way my favorite place to be alone i used to find myself wandering through the bush and way down at the bottom of the hill im the middle of victorian native bushland there stood an old pine tree that didnt quite fit… as it turned out this tree became quite known to me i used to find myself here often… / it was / “my place” / somewhere to be alone and just simply be…. featured in Sepia Only / top ten place in sepia-portraits challenge
