  • / / Framed Print Sweet Rosie / made from paper, pencils, charcoal, marker pen and stuff like that :) Here is a new one from my “Connections” series, all done with lots of dry media. This one is about the connection we have with our loved ones, roses always speak volumes about beauty, love, romance…......and wanting to connect…...what happens we we give and receive roses, why do we give and receive them…..it’s really sentimental stuff…..ahh where would we be without all that roses say for us, through us, about us, to others :) I hope you like my “Sweet Rosie”.....these roses are for you :)

  • / framed print (walnut frame with off white matt) I used a lot of media in this painting….. / chalk pastels, faber castelle black markers, charcoal, aquarelle watercolour crayons wet and dry, acrylics….on Canson canvas textured paper A2 size / it has been tweaked in photoshop to add brightness and contrast, etc. It’s from a series i’ve been wanting to get a start on for over a year, so this is the first one in the “Mothers and Daughters series”....I’m not sure if i’ll do more or not yet…i hope to….just has to be when the inspiration comes though…. I worked on this til 4am this morning …. oops! I hope you like it anyway, there is a sombre mood about it I guess, but not necessarily dark or negative….tears are healing, they really are….....

  • Wahine is a pencil drawing which I’ve coloured in digitally. I used the actual image for the background by liquifying it, stretching it and adding in some blue hues…. wa·hi·ne (wä-hn, n) also va·hi·ne (vä) / n. / 1. Hawaii A Polynesian woman. / 2. Sports A woman surfer. / original pencil drawing “Wahine” has been nominated by gottheshot for the prestigious Pay It Forward Group His comment is “Her work is what I would call ‘authentic’. By this I mean that her work has an Asian style together with a – may I say ‘cutesy’ feel to it. The work has elements of deail, fun, asian culture – which all come together in a great portfolio of work. My single nomination which is incredibly difficult is Wahine. I chose this particular piece ocs of the great detail in the eyes of the work. It reminds me of anime in Japan. The bigger the eyes, the more detail within it – just fantastic.” Thank you so much gottheshot for nominating me, and thank you to the hosts of Pay it Forward who work so hard on this wonderful group.

  • / / / original pencil drawing ...stayed up very late drawing “Nature’s Child”... you know when it’s time for a baby to be born, i think it’s very similar with art… the inspiration just comes when it’s ready…and sometimes that means drawing til 3am like i did with this one. ...the drawing took about 3 hours, and the digital colouring took about 5 hours today. ...inspired by some fantastic eyes i’ve seen lately, (drawn by people on RB) and the dear little willy wagtails…they are so cheeky…they aren’t authentic in colour here, because they are always black and white with little markings above the eye…but i have put their essence into the work hopefully. I think this is my favourite so far :) /

  • / / A little bit of nostalgia running through this drawing, with the good old love beads, i always love wearing love beads, and I still have some which are orange and lime … and another strand of blue and white. You can wear them so many different ways. The image was drawn in pencil on cartridge paper in my A3 spiral bound art journal and after photographing I coloured her digitally on the computer. Before I took the photo I actually painted her ‘love beads’ with acrylics and inks…and i stuck a fimo flower on her beads, which i made for another application, and then painted it naples yellow with a white centre.

  • The Golden Elephant – story and art by Karin Taylor / A long long time ago in a tropical land where the papaya grow wild and free, there lived a golden elephant who’s beauty was unsurpassed. All the creatures were mesmerised by what appeared to be the sun entering the water when she swam and when she walked on the land everyone stepped aside, as elephants were revered. Legend has it, the golden elephant was once a beautiful warrior princess. Once, in midst of of a terrible battle with her enemy about to take her life, she made a wish that she could become an elephant, for then no harm would come to her. The beautiful warrior princess was granted her wish, tho could sadly not return to her human form, and so it was that the golden elephant lived forever, bringing warmth and light wherever she went. During the darkest nights when the stars hid and the moon disappeared, the beautiful golden elephant shone like the sun, lighting the way for pilgrims on their journey. Although very happy she got what she wished for, the golden elephant found herself still thinking the grass was sometimes greener on the other side. Indeed she would have liked to be human again. But she accepted her new role and did the best she could with her gift of light. The moral of the story – be careful what we wish for
