  • The original picture in black & white is fine. In fact, the artist preferred it to this. But my idea from the start was to combine his vivid oil paintings into a portrait, somehow, of the man. I feel it worked, but also failed, as the artist himself didn’t buy the ‘creative’ shot. I left the bulldog clip (bottom right|) holding the original painting as a clue to what this picture is about.

  • “I looked deep in her eye and I saw her soul.” When came back to the painting I saw it was really….MY EYE!!! Acrylic painting 16×20 on canvas board By Vickie Fisher Original painting SOLD, prints available only

  • Having decided what shape his future will take, the Fool strides forward. But he is impatient to make his future a full-grown reality. This is when he comes upon the Empress. Hair gold as wheat, a crown of stars, a white gown dotted with pomegranates. She rests back on her throne surrounded by an abundance of grain and a lush garden. It is possible that she is pregnant. Kneeling, the Fool relates to her his story. And she, in turn, smiles a motherly smile and gently gives him this advice: “Like newly planted grain or a child in the womb, a new life, a new love, a new creation is fragile. It requires fertile soil, patience and nurturing, it needs love and attention. Only this will bring it to fruition.” Understanding at last that his future will take time to build and create, the Fool thanks the Empress and continues on his way. Pregnant. Well, not in the Rider-Waite deck she isn’t. But she is in early decks, and it is an apt symbol for this card. The Empress is a creator, be it creation of life, of romance, of art or business. While the Magician is the primal spark, the idea made real, and the High Priestess is the one who gives the idea a form, the Empress is the womb where it gestates and grows till it is ready to be born. This is why her symbol is Venus, goddess of beautiful things as well as love. Even so, the Empress is more Demeter, goddess of abundance, then sensual Venus. She is the giver of Earthly gifts, yet at the same time, she can, in anger withhold, as Demeter did when her daughter, Persephone, was kidnapped. In fury and grief, she kept the Earth barren till her child was returned to her. —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- / To read more go to this site*

  • Completed in 2004, age 17 This is a slightly cropped version of the original, due to the limits of my camera. My original signature got cropped out so I had to insert a new one in photoshop; in the original it is not actually located there. Original size: (40” x 30”) The two subjects are posed in similar positions, each having a dark, circular central focus., Both images have lines above and surrounding the centres, which draw attention towards the centres. The vertical composition help strenghten the feeling of height given by the vertical lines. Both subjects are organic, however one, the eye, has straight lines and geometrical shapes, while the rose has curvy lines and organic shapes. In the eye, the centre is literally dark, while in the flower the darkness is created by shadows. • When I was eight I received ‘The Jungle Book’ for my Birthday. This was when the world was a much smaller place and one could imagine hidden temples with treasure in far off unexplored jungles in India and Africa, countries we knew little of. We could only visit them in books and the movies. This is my memory painting of a wonderful movie made in 1942, I didn’t get to see it on the big screen until I was in the military and Colorado College played foreign and old movies once a week. On TV it was good, on the big screen it was magnificent. Zoltán Korda was the director, Sabu Dastagir played Mowgli and narrated, music by Miklós Rózsa. If you have a chance to see the movie on the big screen do so. It’s availabe on video too. This is a first try for me to illustrate a wonderful experience. / Music, The Jungle Book FEATURED the Music Inspired Artist group Note: I just got a reproduction back, the color is outstanding. The brilliant color you see on screen is what you will get. For that bright flash of color or as a conversation piece in your decor use a small ‘Mounted Print’ on a plate easel, chic. Framed Print 505 viewings as of 11/16/2009
