The black cat is a feline whose fur is uniformly black. It is not a particular breed of cat and may be mixed or of a specific breed. Historically, black cats were symbolically associated with witchcraft and evil. Originally in Britain and Europe, a black cat crossing one’s path was considered good luck however they were also seen by the church as associated with witches.In places which weren’t affected particularly by witch hunts, they retained their status as good luck, and are still considered as such in Japan, Britain and Egypt.n Russia, there is still a popular belief that if a black cat crosses a person’s path in the street, that person should either choose a different direction in order to walk around the cat’s path or cross it holding a button in his or her fingers.

Cats have highly specialized teeth for the tearing of meat. The premolar and first molar together compose the carnassial pair on each side of the mouth, which efficiently functions to shear meat like a pair of scissors. While this is present in canids, it is highly developed in felines. The cat’s tongue has sharp spines, or papillae, useful for retaining and ripping flesh from a carcass. These papillae are small backward-facing hooks that contain keratin which also assist in their grooming. As facilitated by their oral structure, cats use a variety of vocalizations and types of body language for communication, including mewing (“meow” or “miaow”), purring, hissing, growling, squeaking, chirping, clicking, and grunting.(wikipedia.org)

Celes was a stray cat, living in my back yard last summer. When fall came, and it started getting colder outside, we took her in to live with us. / She unfortunately did not get along with my other (4) cats, so after a few months, we found her a good home with my bf’s sister. She is now happy and we are glad to be able to still visit her. :) More products at my Zazzle gallery

It’s rare I manage to capture my cat all quiet and cute, seeing as she loves to run away from me and my “massive camera”, i think she is scared of it hah! Thank you to ‘Domestic and Pedigree Cats’ for featuring this photograph.

One of my kitties, Miss Mousie, on the bed this morning. She loves the pink snuggle rug (as do I) as it is sooooo soft and perfect for a kitty snooze…..
