http://www.philadelphia33.org/ Every day Anna travels from village to village begging for food. We spend quite some time talking to her and a few local villagers in the area. The chiefs wife told us that Anna was found two years ago by other children in the fields near the village. For many days they made contact with other villages to see where her parents were, but with no success. Anna gets very little help and a few in the village do at times feed her, most of her time is spend begging in different villages. The chiefs wife also said they decided to name her Anna. Anna is dumb and cannot speak. She cannot communicate except by gestures. We have now moved Anna to a family in a village where we work. the family recently lost their eldest child, and now they care for Anna. We make a small contribution each month for her upkeep. 100% of all money raised from sales and donations via our charity website, goes toward helping these precious people. 100% folks. Prakash’s parents are very poor – they own a small cart and eke a living selling earrings and necklaces out of glass and ceramic beads from the cart on the street. When I saw the cart and asked permission to take some shots – he dived into a bag and pulled out a bunch of clippings to show me with obvious pride that they had been featured in a number of newspapers. Another example I’ve tried to capture of happiness despite poverty. Wonder what the secret is…. Taken with Nikon D80 and 50mm f1.8 lens.
I am returning on Mission to the remote villages in Nigeria on 15th November – 16th December 2009. / As I was looking through the Charity Mission notes over the past year, I was reminded that in Tunga/Zuga, Ungwa/Fada, Kaban and Quo Vita Villages in very remote areas, there are 56 blind villagers, which include 28 children. River blindness and cateracts cause most blindness here. James lives in Tunga-Zuga an isolated village in Kebbe State. Nigeria. AS I sat and listened to him sing Jesus Loves me, I realised that although he is physically blind, he can see through eyes of faith. I wrote this verse for James and I dedicate it to all those children I have met who are Blind. “In my world of darkness there is light, / I see my Jesus through eyes of faith, / what these natural eyes cannot see, / my eyes of faith reveal all to me”. Ungwa/Fada Village, remote Nigeria. I knocked on the door of a precious Grandmother who I met while ministering t=in the village last December 2007, expecting her to be in, but instead it was little Alice who opened the door. When she saw me, she was so surprised and stood looking at me without any words. The rest of the Mission team burst out laughing and one elder rolled on the ground with uncontrollable giggles. Eventually Alice produced a smile, but would not move. I love this shot as it made us all laugh in what was a very difficult day emotionally as we did what we could to help the extreme poor and sick in this isolated village. / Alice is one of three orphans cared for by her Grandmother. in the series of Inner landscapes i again worked with fear and tried to give it a “face” . This is how I try to deal with some of my own experiences. Some quite traumatic and damaging . But in this way, by letting go of some of this, there´s more room for love and healing to fill me up and mend my damages. Inspired by Still My Body Aches by Thomas Dybdahl Lyrics Once upon a time, I was feeling fine / I was in my youth’s prime and there was nothing I could do but / hang loose and let the world take me places I had never seen / Nobody told me what to do, nobody told me what to (dream) / Dreams these days consists mostly of you and me / We run from place to place and seemlessly we end up / where we started that night / when just a quick glance from across the room / was enough to send me to the moon Still my body aches / Still my body aches / Still my body aches From the time I was doing push-up and sit-ups / I figured I had to be strong for you guys / in case anything happened / and I was left to take care of you all / And I exhausted myself from my tireless effort to be a good (man) / Man, I was afraid, I was petrified and the days grew darker and / longer and though my body prevailed / it sent shivers down my spine / to think that I’d someday / Yeah I’d someday grow weary of this / This life that sometimes feels like a big joke / where death was the final punchline that everybody waited for / But I’m not ready yet / I have a new vigour / And I intend to see this thing through to the end, my friend But still my body aches / Still my body aches / Still my body aches
Nobody in the village knew his name or where he came from. Abandoned and very sick, he came slowly to us and just sat down at my feet. My deep passion to help those who are very much less fortunate that we are burn every second of each day. I am deeply Inspired By the suffering and desperate struggle of these often abandoned children, to reach out even more to help them in their hour of need. Its not what we take with us when we die, as we shall take no wealth or materials with us. it is what we can leave behind that really matters to God. To leave clean water wells, the ability to grow good quality food, Medical care is what really motivates me. I am sorry that I seem to upload hard sometimes unpleasant images on my site, but I cannot hide the real truth about the suffering in extreme and isolated areas of remote Africa. You won’t see images of this type on Safari brochures or tourist holiday websites. Yet children like this little boy suffer so much. We can together help many children like this precious child. Philadelphia Mission [Reg No: 1049410] is a British charity working with extreme poor in isolated and rural villages in Africa. We are ALL unpaid volunteers and we with a few friends cover all charity overheads and expenses, which are small. ALL DONATIONS WE RECEIVE GOES TOWARD THESE PRECIOUS PEOPLE. PLEASE READ THIS. / Taken in Ungwa/fada village, in remote Nigeria. This was not staged for a photographs, I wasa walking around the remmote village early in the morning and saw this beautiful child praying. These villagers are extremely poor, and many are sick. Their well has caved in and Rickets is rampant here. No hospitals, or school within easy reach, and there is no main roads for 30 miles. We are helping as many as we can. My Passion and calling in life is to do more than just Preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to these poor people, but to with your help and Gods increase meet their needs and help them live better lives. This is my attempt to add something different to the original. I am very new to Paintshop pro and copy and pasting images into other Photographs. I am excited as I have tried many times before and failed. I have much to learn.
