My favorite Barn owls who I have documented since the age of 3 weeks old…are all grown up, and flying with amazing grace, and beauty…They are now approx 13 weeks old…still babies…but you would never know… I went to go visit them today, and was just heart warmed at how beautiful they are now…. quite a few more pics to follow…just so excited to get them up… Their names are Stanley and Ollie… PS..this photo is completely untouched, right out of the camera…..I am so happy about that too…something I have been trying to work on… / three weeks old / / six weeks old / / nine weeks old /

This piece was created on 12×12 Strathmore drawing paper with markers and gel pens. This is the second in a series. There may have been many Barabaras in my life but I can recall three of them. This particular Barbara I remember when I was 12 years old. I lived on a military base along with many other families. It was really difficult to get many items that teenagers would like to have seeing we were stationed in Germany. But Barbara whose father was a high ranking officer got what ever her little heart desired. She even got the coveted jeans that even the guys would have worn. She had all of the latest fashios and wasn’t giving that secret to anyone. She was a year older than I and was considered one of the most beautiful girls in school. I watched her during recess as she just looked at people and her growing entrouge did the communicating for her. Then all of a sudden she wasn’t seen anymore for awhile. / In those few years where I resided in Kaiserslautern, my mother looked for an appropriate church for us. When she did find one, we all had to go. It was of a pentecostal faith and I wasn’t at all use to the dancing and praise that I saw these people doing. It just looked like a place where I could be amused – at first. Then the children were sent to their various Sunday School classes. I was sent to a small group where the teacher thought it would be cool to have a “rap session”. A girl walked in looking waif like with her raggedy jeans and over sized t-shirt. I had no idea who she was but looked very familiar. She spoke of the goodness of God and how her life changed because of her faith in him. She then was introduced. My mouth dropped. It was the very beautiful and always well groomed Barbara from my school. What happened to her, I thought? Where is her coolness? Where are all of her beautiful clothes? She explained that because she put so much value in what she looked like for her own peace of mind she had to get rid of them. She also said how when she was going to school she was usually drunk or selling drugs. Who knew? The influence of her testimony changed my life. I viewed people differently thinking how the outside of a person is a mere facade in comparison to what could be really going on. Her stern appearance made her look cool but she was doing all she could to keep it together. I am a counselor. I have often wondered if I never met Barbara would that path have been a clear direction for me as it has been for the last 15 years.

But i think it adds this reptile effect / But yellow, yes, for sure. / Yellow is the new purple. Better viewed Large FEATURED! In the First Things group!
