b&w version per request / original: / This was taken on my parent’s back porch on a Friday evening. Fridays are “family night” and generally the kids play outside but it was raining so my niece was watching the rain fall. I said her name and when she looked I took this photo. So that’s the story behind the title. :)

This little girl had the most striking eyes I’ve ever seen. ‘Meenakshi’ means ‘one who has fish-like eyes’: Meena (fish) + Akshi (eyes). The photo was taken on New Year’s Eve at Varkala Beach, Kerala, India. There were many Indian people on the beach and I went over to ‘hang out’ with them. This girl’s elderly grandmother asked me if I would take a photo of her grand daughter – I happily obliged!! I showed her the photo on the back of the digital camera, and suddenly I had 20 or 30 Indian women surrounding me wanting to look at the photo. The nicest thing then happened – when they saw the photo, they all wanted to touch my arm. It was my most memorable experience during the whole 6 weeks.

Photograph “to see a video of Israel Kamakawiwo’Ole” CLICK This is a photograph I took of my youngest daughter. When my daughters were younger, we used to tell Faery stories at bed time and take turns adding to the story. The stories were very long and often times they would be very revealing, these were happy memories for us so…….. I wanted to capture what one of those characters might have looked like, she was a Tree Faery and her hair was a birds nest, egg included.

This is a photograph taken for a poster that is part of a campaign for an organization called Noledge working to raise acceptance of cultures through traveling. The reflection in her eyes is the organizations logo. The word vision was placed on the poster together with the tag line let your adventure begin. The idea was to illustrate the experiences you get when you travel. / The other posters illustrated touch, sound and aroma. / The original photograph was take in Sudan 2004. For me this is a photograph that you can (and i know that i do) stare at for ever an always wonder what she is feeling. The eyes draw you in and you want to know what goes on inside. It is a dramatic photo with a bit of mystery which is why I love it!
