A few people have asked me to do a self-portrait, and I thought it is a cool idea cause this site is so interactive. I’d love to see all the faces of all My Red Bubble friends, so I decided to show mine. For some reason, I can’t ever think of a thing creative to do with adult portraits the way I can with children. Although this is not my most creative work (sigh) I still think it is a good representation of me.

Acrylic on hardboard. I hadn’t painted in weeks, and it was driving me further insane, so I spent my day doing this. It was purely to cure boredom and mess around with colours. But, I’ve had to try and scan it in using a Communist A4 scanner, which didn’t like me trying to scan a massive piece of hardboard. Thus, apologies for the quality, the scanner also cut off part of my forehead, but that’s ok, it’s a bit massive really. (Fun fact: this hardboard was supposed to be part of the packaging for the rest of my art. Oops.)

This is the result of having to wait for a repairman who never came…I drew and painted these eyes as time went on and on and he never showed..they’re nobody in particular…just a pair of green eyes…here’s looking at you... Acrylic painting on canvas board panel. Growing up in the country life in Texas inspired many of my horse artworks. My family owned many animals, including ponies and horses that we rode daily. Even though I don’t own horses in my adult life, the memories linger and inspire me with warmth and joy. This painting has been FEATURED in the “Simply Horses” group. :)

Acrylic on canvas / Size: 40×30 cm I completed this this afternoon while I was listening to a PD James radio play. I used a limited palette of Napthol Crimson, Permanent Sap Green and Titanium White. Shades of Modigliani crept into this one, she has quite a sad expression. The background was inspired by an old retro chiffon scarf of my mother’s, A hat is a shameless flatterer, calling attention to an escaping curl, a tawny braid, a sprinkling of freckles over a pert nose, directing the eye to what is most unique about a face. Its curves emphasize a shining pair of eyes, a lofty forehead; its deep brim accentuates the pale tint of a cheek, creates an aura of prettiness, suggests a mystery that awakens curiosity in the onlooker.
