My sleepy little albino squirrel has a message for everyone on the planet – “don’t let me and my fellow animals become extinct”. And – this would make a great Christmas present for friends and family that are conservation minded and like to get this message out…. Also a special thanks to Margotk for her suggestions for the message and formatting! She’s wonderful.
Part of my line promoting awareness and raising funds for endangered species globally. This is also available as cards and prints. All proceeds (100%) are going to the Wildlife Conservation Society for endangered species protection. Because without these animals I would never be able to bring their beauty to you, I am going to pledge to donate 100% of all of my sales proceeds from cards and prints of the imagery in this series here on Redbubble to Wildlife Conservation Society
Scary thouht is’nt it?
This was an outline that sat in my paper book for over 2 years, one morning after reading about the Bengal tigers, it popped into my head and I couldn’t get it out, so I finished it and I am very happy with it :) / Here are some facts everyone should know Before 1900 around 80,000 to 100,000 tigers in India. Around 1971 when Project Tiger started 1700 to 1800. Project Tiger brought populations to 3000 to 3500. Unfortunately the tiger population today stands to 1500 – 2000 thanks to poaching for bones and skins. SPREAD THE MESSAGE OF TIGER CONSERVATION!*~
Asian elephant (Baby) Amazingly, Asian elephants are more closely related to the extinct woolly mammoth than to the African elephant. The elephant’s tusks are elongated teeth (upper incisors) and tend to be smaller in Asian bull elephants than in the African. The four grinding teeth (molars) wear out and are replaced by new teeth from the back of the jaws; the elephant gets through six sets of teeth during its lifetime. Where they live India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Indonesia and Southern China / Habitat Mountains and forest What they eat Vegetation, fruit, twigs, small branches, bark and roots IUCN status Endangered !

Swallow is used colloquially in Europe as a synonym for the Barn Swallow. This family comprises two subfamilies: Pseudochelidoninae (the river martins of the genus Pseudochelidon) and Hirundininae (all other swallows and martins). Within the Hirundiniae, the name “martin” tends to be used for the squarer-tailed species, and the name “swallow” for the more fork-tailed species; however, there is no scientific distinction between these two groups The family contains around 83 species in 19 genera. The swallows have a cosmopolitan distribution across the world and breed on all the continents except Antarctica. It is believed that this family originated in Africa as hole-nesters; Africa still has the greatest diversity of species. They also occur on a number of oceanic islands. A number of species are long-distance migrants. A few species of swallow and martin are threatened with extinction by human activities, although other species have benefited from human changes to the environment and live in around humans. / / / BIRDS I have subdivided this category into sections: follow the links and hit on exactly what fits you. A rare, sunny afternoon at Haleakala Crater, captured while hiking through Haleakala National Park in Maui. Foliage is very rare in the surreal, lava/cinder encrusted surface of this extinct volcano. Now if you didn’t know, would you think this is actually in Hawaii? All content & images © Stephen Vecchiotti. You may not use any images in any way without written consent from artist. The lion is a vulnerable species, having seen a possibly irreversible population decline of 30 to 50% over the past two decades in its African range; populations are untenable outside designated reserves and national parks. Although the cause of the decline is not well-understood, habitat loss and conflicts with humans are currently the greatest causes of concern. Lions have been kept in menageries since Roman times and have been a key species sought after and exhibited in zoos the world over since the late eighteenth century. Zoos are cooperating worldwide in breeding programs for the endangered Asiatic subspecies. The Fractalius Filter was applied to this image to achieve these results.

The Awesome Tiger…...... I will donate 100% of proceeds from the sales of this image to The Wildlife Trusts The tiger is the largest of all the cats. Sadly, this magnificent animal has been hunted by humans and has lost much of its habitat. Three of the eight subspecies have already become extinct, and other populations are also at high risk. The Chinese tiger and the Siberian tiger are under extreme threat of extinction. No two tigers have the same stripe pattern – each is unique, like human fingerprints. Tiger stripe patterns commonly differ between the two sides of an individual’s body. Their main prey species are large animals such as deer, buffalo and wild pigs, but they will also hunt fish, monkeys, birds, reptiles and sometimes even baby elephants. Occasionally, tigers kill leopards, bears and other tigers.
A rare, sunny afternoon at Haleakala Crater, captured in Haleakala National Park in Maui, Hawaii. This is an extinct volcano over 10,000 feet in elevation and very often it’s completely fogged in so after traveling a long distance to reach here it can be rather disappointing. I was extremely blessed to be able to capture this mystical and surreal scenery, which closely resembles the lunar surface, on a wonderfully clear and sunny day. There was a time when dinosaurs ruled and then they were gone. They existed; skeletal remains prove that the dinosaurs lived. Some were huge like the rushus limbaughous tublasaurus big sucker too in fact huge and the very slow dimwitus dubyassholeur bushasaurus both belong to the species “Republicansoreass stupidous carnivorous simplisticus”…sometimes referred to just as “Republicansoreass” thought to be extinct. No they are not extinct they roam the flat earth today always looking back to the Reaganosaur Period the golden age of Repulicansoreass…so if you hear loud farting sounds and smell methane and see a huge slow moving tublasaurus bloviating or a bushasaurus thrashing about you are not seeing things…Republicansoreass is alive and in plain sight…take a picture and let Fox News know…soon the Republicansoreass could become extinct…but not in our lifetime and then you never know…God works in mysterious ways (ask any right wing-nut-job evangelical right now about the American election of 2008…they must be questioning Gods decision)…it could happen.
Taken at the Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve in Gauteng / All of the tiger species left in the world are endangered. In the second half of the 19th century eight subspecies of tigers could be found. Today only 5 subspecies of tiger are left and most of these can be found in zoos where they are bred to stop them from becoming yet another species on the extinction list and to create strong public awareness. A century ago, an estimated 40 000 tigers (Panthera tigris) roamed free over an enormous area stretching from the Russian Far East, through eastern and southern China, south-east Asia, the Indian subcontinent, and into the Indus River Valley in Pakistan, with disjoint populations living in and around the southern reaches of the Caspian Sea and associated river valleys, and on the Indonesian Islands of Sumatra, Java and Bali. Between then and now, the threatened extinction of the tiger has reached critical proportions, with the Caspian, Javan and Bali subspecies already destroyed. The existence of the surviving Bengal Southern China, Indo-Chinese, Sumatran and Siberian tiger Subspecies continues to be challenged by poachers – who collect body parts for traditional medicines, aphrodisiacs and trophies – and, to a lesser extent, by the progression and inhabitation of man into tiger territory. They stand more than one meter high, averaging 3 meters in length, including a 1-meter tail. They weigh between 181 and 226kg, and yet they are able to leap almost ten meters across the ground and jump as high as three meters into the air. They are capable of killing animals more than twice their size, eating on average 31kg of meat per night. They are tigers – one of nature’s most feared predators. And yet, they are bordering on extinction.
STOP poaching our native animals. We are coming to the end=extinction.
