It has been said that the body is the cathedral of the soul. In this painting the fallen figure, be it me or you, or the Christ before resurrection, has been shown without flesh to accentuate the relationship between the rib cage of man and the ribs of the church behind. In this case the church is real. It is the Romanesque church of the Santa Maria Monestary in Alcobaca, Portugal. The architecture is Cistercian with the choir area dating from the early 1200’s AD. I was asked to do a promotion shoot at the Bustop in Boulder. (The Bustop is a gentleman’s club, I’m not really sure what that means! I would have thought that a gentleman probably would not go to a strip club). Anyways, I photographed the three dancers that where doing a review and I started talking to Destiny about her trade. (She’s a fantastic artist in her own right). From our conversation this series was taken. Needless to say no one was there at the time. If you think working in a club like this is easy money, think again. It’s far from and these girls do go through hell occasionally.
