I was inspired to show this image having seen Mel Brackstones image of Sydney ‘from the air’. Flying out of Seattle on a late autumn afternoon I finished off another roll of precious EIR colour infra red film with this shot of Seattle. IR film is well known to cut through haze and the detail is not bad considering the haze that was visible to the naked eye.

Oil on canvas. The subject matter explores the repetition of certain features of the face such as an eye and teeth, with the aim of capturing, exploring and reconstructing them to signify something other and to take the subject to another level. The first painting drafts were used as a starting point to be pushed and pulled in a certain direction, and documented. From the first drafts the work was experimented with further and pushed to another level using encaustic and white over the detailed work.

This wonderful air craft, aka hot air balloon was being inflated. This was part of an event called the xlta. These balloons are experimental, and for the most part home made. / Dragged my husband out of bed at 4 am for this one! ;o) / Whately, Massachusetts, USA

A stereo (3D) colour anaglyph capture of a protruding tree branch and trunk by the shoreline of the Grand river near Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Totally hand-held with parallax adjustments done in Photoshop. This rendition preserves most of the original colours of the scene except for the red which comes from one of the pairs. Viewing this with red/cyan glasses will give you the correct effect and your brain will eventually perceive the underlying colours as well. Best viewed at full size with red/cyan glasses at about 18-24 inches from the screen or print. For more information about stereo (3D) anaglyphs see the group “Anaglyph World”.
