  • Musical infusion:
    by reflector

From nothing but imagination comes / the music that is the idol of our worship

It may sound like I was tripping out on ecstasy when I wrote this poem, but I have never touched the stuff and I never will. I can’t imagine a world without music and I don’t think I want to even try. I enjoy listening to all musical styles from Death Metal, Thrash and Punk through to R&B, Blues, Hip Hop, Reggae, World Music, Instrumental (Narrow tastes here) Techno, Dance, Trance and even some Classical Music ( not very much at all, but it’s incredibly technical and some of the greatest minds the world has ever seen created it by the truck-load ) Comments are very welcome ! Feedback is a great teacher for all of us.

  • A Near Death Experience
    by Denis Dalby

Then the music… like all the music I had ever heard / Played by all the musicians I had always wanted to be. / Billie, Prez and Bird; And…

I suppose many rock or jazz fans have speculated about what would have happened if Jimi Hendrix hadn’t died in the seventies. Would he have gone on breaking the boundaries of rock music. Would he have teamed up with the jazz rock school. There were rumours of a collaboration with Miles Davis, or would he turned into ‘an all round entertainer’. / For those of you who don’t know; ‘Parky’ refers to Sir Michael Parkinson who was the host of a very middle-of-the road chat show. ‘Billie’ is Billie Holliday. ‘Prez’ is Lester Young. ‘Bird’ is Charlie ‘Yardbird’ Parker. ‘The King of the Delta Blues’ is Robert Johnson who seems to have influenced every blues and rock guitarist who has ever played. Now read on…...

Who we are now is the result of all our past experiences, good or bad. It is how we choose to go from here that matters. It is so easy to get stuck in the loop of would’ve, should’ve, could’ve ...which steals the joy of what could still be…if we can only just change our focus. *I edited this piece to add the fourth stanza that had been bothering me
