Exit Music By Paul D Robertson Oils, 95×75 cms. For this piece, ,I took two images of Kirsty (my beautiful friend and most common model) and then put them together in paint. They represent two sides to her personality, I suppose. She had a very difficult year last year, and one of the things she did was to die her naturally blonde hair dark. Since then, though this year has had its own difficulties, she has in many ways changed and recovered. And she is back to blonde. She faces the storm as both, but one side is so much stronger than the otter. I did this piece as a commission for a lovely couple – it ends up as part of a trilogy including In Viva and Patience. This is the final of the three, some kind of resolution in it, I think. / /

With such a flat landscape and few trees to soak up the water the Shire of Quairading has many floodways to contend with, as do drivers trying to get from one place to another in the wet season. This picture was taken after an hour of rain had fell. Had I waited another half hour or so the road would have been flooded for sure and I would have been stranded in the middle of nowhere.

This is the Mikatam Lounge in Genesee, MI. Everyone growing up anywhere near here has heard of the Mikatam. When I was a teenager, Bob Seger played here before anyone had ever heard of him. It burned down earlier this month. June ‘09.

Obviously, this is proof of the old saying: “When one door closes, another door opens”! This shot was taken at a walkway leading towards one of the rides at Luna Park in Sydney. I was immediately struck by a double contrast here: a) the chevrons on the right and the straight lines of the metal fence on the left and b) the orange, white and red on the right, countered by the blue tarpaulin on the left. I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D fitted with a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F8, 1/125 sec, ISO 400, focal length 68mm.
