a magificent round building with a glass roof in Leeds city centre near Leeds city markets. filled with little (expensive) boutiques, odd quirky shops. well worth a visit if your in the city. / Not a fan of shopping? The arcitechure of this building is well worth the visit! a stunning piece of architeture from days gone by. / this is where from all over the yorkshire region came and… you guessed it… exchange corn and such like. / today is is full of little shops and boutiques with cafe resturant and a bar on the ground floor. formally ‘charlie parkers’ it has a balocony on the second floor where there are more shops (including the infamous – condoms shop – fun to go in and have a gander). / looking to the roof of the building its HUGE DOMED roof is half glass, giving great light into the magnificent building. – very impresive. the building has also been home to some club nights. some regular – soak (alas no more) and some fantastic one off night specials – federation. / Its a Great impressive place to throw a PARTY! your mates would be well impressed!

The Corn Exchange in Biggar, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Biggar Corn Exchange, a Grade B listed building dating back to 1860. The building is a major landmark in the town, built on the site of the old rat-infested Meal House. The new Corn Exchange failed to achieve success as a grain market, and became a popular dancing and entertainment venue. In 1935 the Corn Exchange was gifted to the Biggar Burgh Council and the Biggar Theatre Workshop now leases the building from the local council at a nominal rent as its venue for its theatrical performances. The Biggar Theatre Workshop was founded in 1971 and since then has become one of the main sources of arts facilities in the district, allowing the people of Biggar and the surrounding areas the opportunity to participate in live theatre as well as creating a performance and arts venue for local and travelling theatre groups. Three bracketed JPGs converted to HDR in Photomatix. BEST VIEWED LARGER Related shots can be found at: Lowland Scotland or you can look at all my HDR shots. /

A vendor and a shopper at the Carmel market in Tel Aviv Israel. The Carmel Farmers Market (CFM), a growers-only market, is Tel Aviv’s biggest and busiest marketplace filled with colorful stalls and shouting vendors selling a variety of goods, from dried fruits and exotic spices to clothing and footwear an exciting and bountiful place to buy fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, eggs and plants. Many vendors have their own songs, which tell you all about the price and quality of what is being sold. Sometimes one vendor sings against another in a competitive duet. The market runs into side streets, large and small, one side favoring dry goods, and the other dried beans, fruit, nuts, and spices in all colors and fragrances, sold from sacks. *

This Edwardian building, once the home for cotton trading in Manchester, has a roof with three glass domes, and on this sunny afternoon their shadows were falling onto the parquet flooring. You might imagine that the single person walking down the hall was pre-arranged, but in fact she just appeared as I was about to take my one and only shot!

Treasure hunters often discover things of questionable value. On those occasions, the exchange is the place to perhaps trade up or at least trade in. What treasure of dubious value do you have to exchange?
