Inspired by Nunawading station, I always felt sorry for the residents of East Richmond and South Kengsinton as trains never seem to stop there.

A vicuna having an elegant nibble. Edinburgh Zoo has a small herd of vicuna, which are the wild species of camel from which the alpaca was domesticated. (The South American camels – vicuna, alpaca, guanaco – don’t have a visible hump, as bactrians and dromedaries do.) Vicunas have very fine, thick fur, for which they were hunted nearly to extinction by the 1970s. But anti-poaching efforts in Peru, Chile, and Argentina, have led to a comeback, and the species has made a remarkable comeback in its native mountains. “Vicunas represent the Andes, the ancient cultures and grace of all wild creatures. The world would not be the same without the beauty of vicunas.” – Alfonso Martinez, president of Consejo Nacional de Camelidos Sudamericano

A simple little sketch inspired by the quote “A gentleman protects a woman from everyone except himself”. I just heard this line in a conversation and loved it because it is so true!
It has been said that the body is the cathedral of the soul. In this painting the fallen figure, be it me or you, or the Christ before resurrection, has been shown without flesh to accentuate the relationship between the rib cage of man and the ribs of the church behind. In this case the church is real. It is the Romanesque church of the Santa Maria Monestary in Alcobaca, Portugal. The architecture is Cistercian with the choir area dating from the early 1200’s AD. The city in the background (left) is Concord, New Hampshire, where I lived and worked for many years before moving to Windham, NH recently. “The Cathedral” has been featured in the group “Hand painted or drawn Buildings and architecture”. / Calendars for Friends Surreal Paintings Calendar / Surreal Watercolors Calendar Glacier National Park Calendar / Roses Calendar / Works Featured in Red Bubble Groups

I found this old ruin while out walking in the woods unless you knew it was there you would never find it. The ruin is at least a hundred years old and right off the beaten track. About fifty yards away there was another ruin house much older made of stone .
