The pinks in the rose and the quilted feel of the background offer warmth and comfort, along with the inspiring words of Emily Dickinson which reassure those who have lost their mother that she’s still close and caring.
I took this close-up of Jesus on the cross which was in a very old cemetery and then when I saw these words on a church marquee, “Jesus built a bridge with two boards and three nails,” I added them to the photo. Something to really meditate about!
A creative experiment with a heart-shaped cookie cutter and a tealight candle
Looking for a feed on this golden everlasting daisy. Both the bee and the flower are native to the Blue Mountains area in NSW and can usually be found in the bush, although are known to be found in residential areas. This picture depicts nature at its finest, showing how one relies on the other and vice versa. Enjoy.
Taken at Ku-ring-gai, NSW, Australia. This is the kind of beauty that would remain in my mind’s eye forever, long after this landscape has changed as a consequence of today’s actions. *** / Please do not copy, redistribute, or use this artwork WITHOUT my written permission! Wild horses layered over an Aspen grove.
My cousin Mary lived her entire life in a wheelchair. She was a sweet gentle spirit who died as a young adult. Her mother missed her terribly and so did her sisters. A red spotted purple butterfly began to “visit” their garden shortly thereafter, and the sight of it brought my cousins and my Aunt Lucille such joy and peace they took it as a comforting sign from heaven that Mary was sending smiles and love their way. Today, this red spotted purple literally kept running into me as I was trying to make my way to a flower bed to do some weeding. Well, it got my attention alright, so I put away the gardening tools, came inside to grab my camera, and starting clicking away. It lingered and lingered and was so accommodating, something that I’m not accustomed to seeing with the butterflies in my yard. I enjoyed my little visitor so much, and I’d like to dedicate this image to Mary and my Aunt Lucille who has since passed away. I think of them every time I see the blue butterfly named “Red Spotted Purple.” Maybe they were just dropping in to say hello to me today and to bring smiles and love, via a butterfly, from heaven. Maybe Mary was telling me, “I can walk now, and I can fly!”
This is a TtV image (Through the Viewfinder), using the alternative photographic technique of composing the image through an old twin reflex camera and taking the picture with a new digital camera’. jules
The ground is covered in a multi coloured carpet of everlastings. A sight for sore eyes. This is in Kings Park, overlooking the beautiful city of Perth, Western Australia
This pink everlasting was standing out from the crowd, taller than the rest. To capture this photo I walked around the display of these everlastings and tried to find one that was standing out taller than the rest. The shot was a little difficult due to changing light conditions, there was lots of thick cloud that meant the sun kept going away and re-appearing. I used an aperture of f/9 for the photo to get the depth of field I wanted and the right level of blurring on the background. To compensate for the low light I boosted the ISO level to 400. I used a fast shutter speed of 0.005 sec (1/200) to make sure the shot was in not blurred since there was gusts of wind blowing the flowers around. The camera I used for this photo is a Canon 40D digital SLR with the standard 17-85mm kit lens that came with it. Due to there being a fence preventing me from getting closer to the flower I had to fully extend the lens to 85mm for this shot.

Oil and Acrylic on Canvas with addition of printed matter / 50×50 inches / I deliberately create a space that is flat and ambiguous by exploiting the strain between two and three dimensions through a combination of techniques utilizing traditional oil, acrylic, and marker. The addition of printed matter in some of the pieces culminates in literal and/or figurative fragments of images and patterns.
Ok I will confess I am in love with Edward Cullen. Who isn’t! I am a little Twilight obsessed at the moment and Megan Dacy sent me a bmail suggesting I have a go at creating something Twilightesque. Referring to my previous photo of Elachbutting Rock, the main reason we went to the wheatbelt that year (2005) was to see the wildflowers which, due to excellent rains, were pronounced brilliant. / You can be the judge of that in this photo which was taken with my old 4mp Olympus C750UZ camera (that was subsequently stolen when we were broken in to). The flowers are mostly everlastings, which formed an incredible carpet over most of the surrounding area, but here and there are patches of wild cornflowers. / This endless sea of colour stretched almost as far as the eye could see and it is a real shame that so many people miss out on this because they choose to visit the more accessible areas. There’s a saying out here that if you want to see the wildflowers at their best you have to either get off the beaten track or get out of your car and walk – and that certainly holds true in this part of the eastern wheatbelt. / We are something like 500 kms east of Perth, Western Australia and the time of year was the first week in September – nearly half way through Spring.
My origami calendar Time passes by so quickly; life is so busy. If I were in the centre of time, could I forever enjoy the moment that is now? Moments are like flowers; enoyable while it still exists, then wears away… Just when I finsh one school project; it’s time to work on another. I cherish moments where I can slowly enjoy my favourite activities… This clock of mine is old. It doesn’t run on batteries, I have to wind it to keep it ticking. The Sound of the Sun / Embrace of the Everlasting “It makes one all right, / though you hadn’t thought of it, / A sound like the sound of the sky on fire, / like Armageddon, / Whistling and crackling, the explosions of sunlight booming / As the huge mass of gas rages into the emptiness around it. It isn’t a sound you are often aware of, / though the light speeds / To us in seconds, / each dawn leaping easily across a chasm / Of space that swallows the sound of that sphere, / but If you listen closely some morning, when the sun swells Over the horizon and the world is stil / and still asleep, / You might hear it, / a faint noise so far inside your mind / That it must come from somewhere, / from light rushing to darkness, / Energy burning towards entropy, / towards a peaceful solution, / Burning brilliantly, spontaneously, in the middle of nowhere, And you, too, must make a sound that is somewhat like it, Though that, of course, you have no way of hearing at all.” ~ The Sound of the Sun by George Bradley Sun Pillar / Sunset near Chena River Lakes Recreational Park / Wilderness of North Pole Alaska / From my collection: / Emerquinox Spirit of Alaska / Emerquinox is a word I coined when I combined the words Emerge and Equinox. It is a peculiarity of Love’s mossy light / that once, hapless rocks drowing in their days / would be overthrown by Love’s destructive plig…
I wish I could say who this poem is for. / I wish sometimes that love never visited. / I wish that I didn’t write the line / above because it is a lie. / Though it was true / at the time. Let go. The tranquility speaks. / What’s real remains. Not getting what you want. Is it good for the soul? Maybe restraint is very beautiful, the inconvenience of being who you are. And wanting what you do, / so impossible and true. A goodbye is just a goodbye. / Perhaps we only ever live / in the strong fragrances / that do not make sense / and will never leave you.
